Deputies looking for truck driver who shot motorcyclist
« on: July 21, 2011, 07:46:15 AM »

BRANDON --
Deputies are searching for a truck driver who they say shot a motorcyclist in the back earlier this month in Brandon.

According to reports, the 38-year-old man was driving his Yamaha motorcycle east on Highway 60 at about 11 p.m. on July 8 when he pulled in front of a white pick-up truck.

The truck began following the motorcyclist. When they got to the area of Lakewood Drive South and Oakfield Drive, the motorcyclist heard what he described as "popping sounds," then realized he had been shot in the back, deputies said.

The motorcyclist was discovered by a bystander, who then called the sheriff's office.

The motorcyclist was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he is listed as being in stable condition.

Deputies are now searching for the driver of the pick-up truck, who fled the scene after the shooting. The suspect vehicle is described as a white or pearl-color pick-up truck of unknown make and model. The truck has dark tinted windows and expensive rims.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200, or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS
