Mirrors
« on: August 21, 2011, 10:38:42 AM »

Can not get used to the mirrors.  Keep seeing my hands and can not adjust.  I am thinking about going with traditional mirrors like I had on my 04 SEEG.   Can Anyone tell me what the trick is to adjusting to the Fairing mounted mirrors.  Note.. they seem to vibrate a lot more than I like as well :-\ :-\

The answer is different mirrors. The good news is, as these things go, they're not too expensive...

Split Vision Fairing Mount Mirrors
See even more of the world that you just passed. This exclusive design Split Vision Mirrors minimizes blind spots and provides a wide panoramic rear view of the left and right lane, and the road behind you. The mirror features a large primary panel for normal view, and a second outboard convex panel for a wider field of vision. Slightly larger than the standard-view Fairing Mount Mirrors, these split vision mirrors offer the same full range of adjustability. A direct bolt-on replacement for standard-view Fairing Mount Mirrors, the kit also includes the hardware and mounting template required for easy and accurate installation on other models.
92085-10
Fits '96-later Electra Glide®, Street Glide® and Trike models (pair). Does not fit with Chrome Fairing Mount Mirror Covers P/N 91924-09, Illuminated Chrome Mirror Covers P/N 92600-10 or Fairing Mount Mirror Covers P/N 92200001.

MSRP US $99.95

Hang in there.  I went from a SERK to a SESG.  Took a little while to get used to the fairing mounted mirrors vs. the taller handlebar mounted mirrors.  Change is hard..I'd gotten comfortable with my old seat, backrest, mirror position, etc.  I thought I'd never get used to looking over the batwing vs. being able to look through the RK windshield.

Harley makes these plugs too. (Listed under the pullback touring handlebars in the P/A Catalog)
Fairing Plugs P/N 732 (qty 2) and 755 (qty 2).

It took awhile for me to get comfortable with the mirrors on the SG but no problems now.  I like some aftermarket and HD options which I may upgrade to but am happy with the OEM SG ones but it took some time.

would have been nice if the Street Glides came with handlebar mounted mirrors and the owner could decide to make the change. :nixweiss:

They call those "Ultras" or "Electra Glide Standards". The mirrors are part of what makes a Street Glide a Street Glide.

I don't personally care for them.. I had them on my 03 EG. They wouldn't stay after I adjusted them.  :nixweiss:

Did you change handlebars?  I had to take off the fairing mounted mirrors when I changed handle bars, the new bars put my hands right in the middle of the stock mirrors.

Same on my SG. It took a little time to get used to the fairing mirrors but now I don't notice it anymore.

Go to your local auto store and buy the round fish eye stick on mirror's, they work great and they don't look all that bad.
