Aged tires
« on: September 02, 2013, 06:50:02 AM »

Need to ride a Switchblade 80 miles on 12 year old tires. Tires have 7k miles on them and appear to be in very good condition. Any reason not to try this trip?

If there are no dry rot cracks.......go for it, as long as the 80 mi are not in the hard twisties.

I'd do a thorough inspection first for any signs of cracking, then ride those 80 miles somewhat cautiously.  When you only have two tires holding you off the ground I tend to be much more cautious than if I had four, if you know what I mean.  Then I'd make a point of getting those twelve year old tires replaced ASAP.
