So says the MoCo's website both currently profiled versions of the bike are air cooled 103s.

Agreed on handlebar angle - the rider in one pic appears to have his wrists at an odd angle.

Pics from HD are usually so-so.  Will wait to form my final opinion until seen in person.  From pics & info plus no H2O initial impression is so-so.

I do not get it, they had to take a year off to redesign the fairing? and no wet head? Rather disappointing unveiling in my opinion.

Looks like all the "spy" photos were actually pretty close to real!

3 vents for the fixed fairing, glove boxes open up from the bottom, some new type of wind management deflector on the fixed fairing to cheat the wind, 19" rim up front, new handlebars, usb plug on the right glove box, etc. etc.

The Shark is back!

I don't know if anyone mentioned this or not, but it appears that they have added lower fairing corner wind deflectors.  They're hard to see, but in a couple shots you can see them.

The spy shot from earlier had vents on the side of the fairing and you can still see beside the headlights a capped off air inlet, at least that's what it looks like to me.

I'm sorry, the vents in the front are functional.  I just watched the video and they appear to go all the way through and that's the anti-buffeting vents.

I wonder what the vents on the side of the fairing near the rear edge was then???

Saw on Harley's web site the 2015 RG is official. New shark nose with the new boom box, New gauges. They took a lot of the Mt Rushmore goodies and applied it to the RG.

the handlebars remind me of those buckhorns on my 96 Springer.

They sucked back then as well, especially for those of us with longer legs

Yes, but I have been able to live with the stock bars on the 11.5 so far - I would like the wrist angle reduced a little but without any additional height -

But the one on this '15 RG look torturous at best. I would have to have the dealer put on some sort of Apehanger with a flatter wrist angle and better pullback measurement before a test ride!

Seems rather backward, and thus typical Harley, to take the bike out of production for an entire year and still not make the move to water cooling.  It doesn't require shutting down production for a year to make the relatively minor changes seen here.  They didn't halt production of the e'glides for 2013 to be able to come out with the changes for 2014, did they?

An updated fairing and new entertainment system doesn't impress me nearly as much as an improved powertrain and suspension would have.  But of course that's because my priorities are about 180° from Harley's priorities.

Nothing here to make me change my mind about never buying another new Harley.

Finally is here the new 2015 road glide...I am not to sure about the new fairing look, but they claim it reduces buffering....what I like is the new radio touchscreen but I don't know if it has bluetooth so I can connect my iPhone and listen to music...for the new led lights I like more the ones I have on my CVO Road Glide 2013 orange, another mod that I like of the 2015 is the one hand lach to open the bags! is a pain in the back to use both hands versus one hand and to top it off my girlfriend always ask me can you open the bag! I don't know if the bags are the problem ore is my girlfriend...jejeje but I guess I have to keep her happy! I have also a Road Glide 2010 red with a lots of mods in other words $$$  I will post some pictures
My question is how is it going to affect the value of our Road Glides? and how do you like the new look over all of the 2015 Road Glide?
Thanks

I think the twin cooled version is very nice. I like the fact that the temp is very stable. Yes it will have lowers but nothing that can be done. I feel the TC is a step forward on these bikes.

According to the H-D specs, they only list two versions and both are air cooled, not Twin Cooled.  That's what I found so disappointing about this "big deal" return of the RG.  Gone for a year just to change the fairing and infotainment system; what a joke.

Well... I dont see anything there that will make me want to trade in my old bike.  The fairing looks nice, but I dont have a buffering problem.
Twin cool would not have done it for me, I think thats a stop gap measure at best...

I think my bike just increased in value

So what are we looking at for a CVO?? 2016?

I like the looks of it and love all the improvements they have made (front fork, linked brakes, lid mechanism, etc.)... now to decide if I like it enough to make me trade my current ride for it...

My 1984 Yamaha and Honda Goldwing had linked brakes.... really introducing 30 year old technology took a year?

BTW I like the linked brakes, great idea

All of the improvements could have been done with out the marketing ploy of killing it off for a year.  Now if they had come out with a bigger engine as standard, that was really water cooled to make driving in traffic enjoyable I would have been impressed.

Oh well

Some nice features but I guess I expected (dreamed) too much for Harley. I wished for a large V-rod type water cooled motor that put out more horsepower/torque so we weren't playing second place to other bikes like a Goldwing or an Indian in H.P. also best grade suspension stock.
Seems funny to me when the car manufacturers are in a performance war between each other and H-D seems to be happy with just good enough to get by but not like old time racing days when they wanted to lead the pack......I guess electronics/cosmetics and bells and whistles attract the customers more then technical improvements?  :nixweiss:

Hang on. Just because they released the 2015 RG and RG Special doesn't mean they've released everything.  I could see the MoCo holding something back.  I imagine all the CVOs will be released at the same time.

I will... but have to share that I almost traded her in for a CVO Road King... only the color held me back... when I replace this one it has to be for another blue bike... just looking to trade only for the improvements that were made to the new bikes... I worry too much about my engine blowing up...stupid, I know.

Hence my question for GMR about twin cooled comment. I tend to agree that although the new fairing is nice, it smacks of a thinly veiled marketing ploy to take the model out of circulation and reintroduce it with what looks like a handfull of changes - even more so when it was only gone for one model year.

Sat on it in sturgis today. Has three vents that are open all the way through.  They are either. All open or all closed. There are no half open. The width is 1" narrower.  The glove boxes open from the bottom and pull up. Seems like stuff will fall out when opening them.  The fairing is a bit closer to the rider and a bit taller. It will be interesting to see what the windshield companies come up with.  We spent a half hour with the engineer who did the wind tunnel work. The gas tank back is a 2014 Streetglide. The front end was all changed. It's shorter than the old ones---- bad for us tall riders.  It's a wait to be seen on the handle bars---they are trying to fit both short and tall riders--- by rotating the bar forward or back.  I asked about the wind reflectors onthe sides. He said they are for the company to sell as accessories but don't help at all.  There is no water cooled anything. He would not comment about the CVO model.  He also said this would just be a bar hopper and not for distances. I didn't like to hear that.  All in all I'm glad I have my 09. Wouldn't want a new one.

I have no doubt Indenial reported accurately what the HD guy said; however, one comment didn't add up.  The HD guys said the RG is a "bar hopper."  So HD redesigns a member of its touring family, but it's not for long distances?

Not that I find that comment about being a bar hopper all that far fetched, considering Harley management's constant style over function philosophy, but I think that so-called engineer was probably just running his mouth without being in on the real overall design strategy.  Lots of folks seem to like making stuff up to appear more important than they are these days.  I'd be more inclined to believe this was some junior member of the organization who got roped into standing around at an event and talking to the public.  The same thing went on in the auto business; the junior folks got assigned to the auto shows to actually man the booths and talk to consumers, while the senior folks who actually knew anything partied or just avoided the whole thing.

You would think a company would think about whom they put out there to speak with the public.
Then again, why would they care, no matter what they tell us, we still go out in droves and purchase there product!

A reason the gentlemen may have made that statement is that a lot owners put very few miles on there bikes and do only bar or rally hop on them.
So fit and function is second to looks all day.

Just my 2 cents Jerry.

It's not CVO going to ride it again before I run my mouth about what's good and what's not. And yes there is a USB connector in the right glove box and it should hold a phone wit no issue

FastFreddy,

Any chance of a photo of the Black Denim RG Special?

Love the new look!  Was never an RG fan until recently seeing a 110th CVO RG in the flesh. RG are very rare here is Oz as they have only been offered in limited numbers.

Jerry
I thought the same thing.  Recall being at Daytona Bike Wk and talking to a HD factory rep about wanting a better exhaust sound from my SERK.  He told me to remove the baffles.  It seems at these events manufacturers reward employees by sending them there with little thought about their expertise.

Maybe the glove box opens from the bottom so it will actually stay dry inside?  :nixweiss:

I hope they are indeed holding back on a CVO model announcement.  :drink:

Demoed the 15 Road Glide Special three times Saturday.  I am 6'1", and the wind around the bike is very smooth or laminar.  There is zero buffeting.  The bad news, is the wind noise in my ears is deafening and could not hear the sound system at all over 60 mph. I tried vents both open and closed, lots of buffeting closed but smooth air open.  I have more buffeting on my 12, but no wind noise.  The guys keep telling me the HD taller shield will fix that.  Told them I would not buy one unless I could demo a bike with a taller shield the noise from wind is deafening and I can't live with that, I can live with buffeting.  The looks of the inner fairing is nicer in my opinion and I like the looks of the bike.  It was very comfortable.  On the first demo ride I went three exits farther than I was suppose to.  Tracks great at 80 mph no hands on the bars.

They would not even hit if there was a CVO, a Limited or anything like that.  My guess is there is, as one guy told me wait and see.  I also can't believe the MOCO would not be saving something for the dealer meeting in three weeks.

I am really hoping there is a CVO Limited Road Glide, or at least a CVO road glide.

I also hope the wind noise can be fixed for us taller riders.  My wife at 5'7" said no noise at all and no buffeting, much better wind control than her street glide, first road glide she has ever liked the ride of.  She always said the older road glides were uncomfortable, bad reach for bars, and to much wind.  I think she is actually considering a road glide now, as she said the front felt much lighter than her 13 Street Glide and wind was better on it.

I wished for a large V-rod type water cooled motor that put out more horsepower/torque so we weren't playing second place to other bikes like a Goldwing or an Indian in H.P.

Ditto
I've been hoping for a 4 cylinder V-Rod powered Road Glide since Chains got his 4 years ago. Thought this just might be the year.

Got this in an email from the MOCO yesterday.  For those of you waiting for the new Road Glide, the wait is over.  Looks like they're all air cooled with the 103 inch engine.

Yep I like the look from what I can tell from the pics. But not interested, I'll wait for the water-COOLED version if they ever decide to make one. If not the next one will be like what Chip just bought. So continues the love/hate with Harley. Maybe I should start a petition and find out how many folks would really buy a true water cooled touring harley.

All MOCO would have to do is swap in the twin cooled motor and the lowers with the radiators.  It's a shame, I think they'll leave a lot of HD riders waiting for that version.  Maybe it's coming and us common folks just don't know yet?

The CVO model will probably be a water pumper 110 with lowers and the usual CVO trim. I only hope they change the handlebars on the CVO. These are ugly and look uncomfortable!

Good idea. Is there anyway to create a voting section in a thread? Of course that just makes it a local forum thing huh?
Have to admit though, I'm starting to really like the new changes. But then that blue 2012 CVO RG looks so hot. I do not need another bike...say it 3x's.
Gonna have to figure out how to sell a Rune, Raider and Wing I guess. My luck they'd come out with a full water pumper after I bought a 12 or 15. Easy big fella, pace yourself.  I ain't rich like like some folks here.

:nixweiss:

I sure hope the CVO model will have the wet heads with lowers.  The bars actually are not to bad, have demoed the bike a few times, but I would still change them to apes.

So what are we looking at for a CVO?? 2016?

I like the looks of it and love all the improvements they have made (front fork, linked brakes, lid mechanism, etc.)... now to decide if I like it enough to make me trade my current ride for it...

The entertainment system with a touch screen, can't really tell,..but it seems to be a bit of a reach ie when riding, the movement, looking down to touch screen at what your trying to do.
I don't know how it is on the other side of the pond, but over here if a copper was to see you riding with one hand and leaning foreward  messing about with your entertainment touch screen YOUR BUSTED    :nixweiss:

just because there is a touch screen doesn't mean you have to use it all the time.  the 2015s (and 14s as well) still have the handlebar controls that work just fine.

That review raved about the great radio reception.  The reception on my SGS is near non-existent.
I can't even use it it's so bad!
Plus the radio will power up on it's own accord when the bike is started up-about half the time.
It powers up to the only FM station it poorly receives.  I use an iPod and you'd think it would power up to the iPod, but it never does.  I have to go to the home button, then media, then my iPod to listen to it.
I much prefer the reception and reliability of the radio on my SE Ultra.
I've had the SGS back to the dealer to try and fix it, but they wasted a day of my time and accomplished nothing.

What is an Electra Glide Limited Low? Is that for short folks like me?  :nixweiss:

I see CVO SG on there looking forward to seeing that!  :2vrolijk_21:

You probably already know this but typically the "low" version has the low profile suspension installed at the factory and that's what makes them low models. So yes, the "low" models are for us vertically challenged folk.

I prefer the "standard" suspension height and compensate (for the bike height) with the heel height of my riding boots.

No 2013 had the ultra road glide and king. There is usually 3 tourers and 1 other (softail or Dyna)
Ok, thanks (FLHTCUSE, FLHTRXSE, and FLHRSE). :2vrolijk_21: I don't remember when they started the 3 touring... hasn't always been like that.

Really there are only usually two touring bikes, like 14.  The CVO King and the CVO Ultra Limited.  The 110th, 2013 is the only year I remember with three touring bikes, the CVO King, the CVO Road Glide and the CVO Ultra.  12 was the CVO Ultra and CVO RG,  11 Was the CVO Ultra and CVO  Road Glide Ultra and a CVO Street glide.  In 10 it was the CVO Street Glide and CVO Ultra, in 09 the CVO Road Glide and CVO Ultra.

But the Good news is a CVO Road Glide for 15! :apple: :carrot: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :coolblue:

That's the way I always remembered it (only 2 touring CVO's) too. Although the CVO touring models seem to sell better/more than the others I thought it odd that they would have 3 of them.

I am thinking there will be at least another three or four cvo models in addition to the touring models. At least one more year for the breakout and deluxe. Maybe even a Heritage???

Seems like I only remember 4 models per year including the touring models. I could very well be wrong though, Hell, it's already happened today at least once.

OOPs, your right they did.

So there were 3 touring in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

2014 only two

All the years prior to 2011 only two or less touring.

I know it won't happen this year but.

I wonder if there is a CVO trike in the future? Not that I'm there yet, but I'm sure some folks will bite. Bet that trike would be over the top in price too!

Maybe since the "Low Rider" was reincarnated and has grown into the choice of younger/new riders, they will come out with a CVO version?

My guess if they ever did a trike CVO it would be 44K or more.

Heck even the Ultra is way up there now that it's a CVO Limited.

My guess is this years CVO Road Glide Ultra is going to be close to the price of the CVO Limited.

Seems the touring bike CVO's sell best.  I am sure it has to do with the people with the money tend to be older and want more comforts.  The 13 CVO King sold well, but the 14 CVO Kings are not selling well in my area.  Seems everyone wants a batwing, or it's the music, which the 13 King had and the 14 CVO King does not

I test rode a 2014 cvo road king at laconia this past June.  I was not impressed with the ergonomics...in particular the shifter felt as is it was tucked too close to the engine and the handle bars were not to my liking. It was my first time on a touring mode...so it is probably just some issues that I would have to get use to.
Also I was terribly unimpressed with the acceleration of the 110 c.i. Road King...again maybe I am just spoiled with my convertible.

Interesting take on the CVO King.  I have not found many touring bikes that will run with it except other CVO's.  Then like you, I felt I need more, so the motor in my King is built.

I have yet to find any softtail model that can hang with a touring bike in the curves.  Floor boards drag on them long before they do on a touring bike.  I know in our garage is a heritage, a fatboy, a street glide, a CVO road glide, and a CVO road king.

Main reason my wife went to a street glide was so she could keep up in the curves.

Hi Dave,
You are absolutely correct about the rubbing floorboards, especially on my cvo convertible...I probably have my floorboard brackets ground down pretty good by now. But I was speaking of just straight forward power and quickness...probably due to the lesser weight of the convertible compared to the road king. Also the balanced 110 c.u. Is very relaxing when sitting at a traffic light.

Thanks guys.  Two belong to my wive, the Street Glide and the Heritage.  She loves riding and averages 34,000 miles a year.  So she does not say a word about me and my bikes.   :cool blue:  She knows I am will be looking hard at the 15 CVO RG Ultra, I plan to trade my 12 CVO RG, she thinks I should keep it as she knows its my favorite of all the road glides.

09 Heritage 96,000 miles
13 Street Glide 37,000 miles, traded an 11 street glide for it she put 39,000 miles on.

My 12 CVO RG has just over 45K, the 13 Has 14K.

I do agree about the Balanced motors.  Took me a long time to get use to the vibration at a light on my first touring bike in 09.  I am sure the lighter convertible 110 would be a little quicker than the 110 King, as its about 80 pounds less.

I do agree about the Balanced motors.  Took me a long time to get use to the vibration at a light on my first touring bike in 09.  I am sure the lighter convertible 110 would be a little quicker than the 110 King, as its about 80 pounds less.

Unless I am traveling I normally ride without the passenger seat/sissy bar and without the saddle bags. Which will jump that eighty lbs. up above 100 lbs., about the weight of a small passenger.

As long as you ONLY drag the floorboards and not the supports.

I'm with this dude. My CVO King has plenty of balls and it's stock (for now). The Heritage I traded for it couldn't keep up in the straights or the curves.

Hey Puma,
You are absolutely correct about the curves. In fact it is downright dangerous being aggressive on curves riding a cvo convertible. But on the straight away I am sure I can at least keep up with and even surpass a cvo road king or two on my convertible having riden  with a friend who owns one.  As far as balls go you need to do the cvo breakout which I do believe is also a softtail. Then you may have a different take as far as the meaning of balls.
What I do not care for are the ergonomics of the road king.  As with all touring models you tend to sit on top of them as opposed to the softtails where you are sitting more inside of it...between the rear wheel and the engine.  That may have something to do with me being height-challenged...I am only 5'-10" tall.  That may also be why most woman riders usually perfer softtails as opposed to the touring models.
Like they say, to each their own...

That CVO Breakout was the undisputed hot rod and a beautiful m-fer, too. Specifically the first year it was out in red with the chrome hoops. But since I can only have one bike I insist on a bike that can handle the twisties. As for the ergos, I'm even more vertically challenged than you at 5'8" and I find the king pretty good. It took some getting used to, though. I thought I was more spread out on my Heritage. As you correctly stated, you sit much lower in the bike and closer to the ground, but I found I could stretch the legs more and the mini apes were farther away. The King fits me better, but you definitely feel like you are on the bike as opposed to in it.

I am also 5ft 8, and came to a 2014 CVO RK from an 07 Heritage. My thoughts, loved the Heritage, had Shotgun air shocks so it rode well. It did feel like you sit in the Heritage. The King is brilliant, not so much better, but different. I don't have any issues with the weight, or riding position. It does seem to be a more competent tourer and seems to eat the miles better. I have done a couple of Riders Edge courses, so have no issues with slow riding and handling the extra weight as I always rode a King on the course. The only thing I was surprised of, was when my other half is on the pillion, the bike, there does seem to be less room, than when on my Heritage, it is more snug. She is a small lady, so I kind of expected there to be more space, but I guess that is because of the pillion setup. Love the bags, can get more crap in, than with the leather bags :)

Overall, if I could have kept both I would have, but am happy with the King

My wife has an 09 Heritage, it her favorite bike ever.  She says the fit is better than any other Harley.  She has over 95,000 miles on it.  She had a 11 Street Glide she traded with 44K on it for a 13 Street Glide she just traded with 42K for her new 15 Road Glide Special.

When she rides with me, she is on the touring bikes so she can keep up in the Curves.  She also rides the touring bike on trips over 500 miles, as more comfortable to carry more stuff.

She locally still almost always rides the Heritage, unless she know We will be in curves.

She is 5'8" and has no issues with the touring bikes.  She does think the new 15 Road Glide Special with the new handle bars and such is the most comfortable touring bike she has ever been on.

Yeah I had a 2010 heritage, absolutely a great bike and I won't have a bad word said about them,
One of the nicest and most predictable handling Harley's in production, the Road king is more of a long distance mile eater ..... Still miss my heritage though :2vrolijk_21:

I have an 07 Street Glide and an 08 cuse3. I absolutly love the SG because of the "sit in" rather than "sit on" aspect, the Ultra feels like a 4WD compared to the SG. That being said, I love the power of the 110. so maybe I need to trade em both in on a CVO SG.
