Blizzard in Colorado!
« on: December 20, 2006, 09:32:41 PM »

A number of roads and highways are closed in southern Colorado.

In addition, ALL flights out of Colorado Springs Airport have been cancelled for today due to the storm. Flights in and out of Denver have also been cancelled. If you have a flight out in the next 24-hours, you should check with your airline about rescheduling.

The following roads are closed:

-- Interstate 25 from South of Denver to the New Mexico line
-- Highway 24 East of Colorado Springs to Limon
-- Highway 94
-- Interstate 70 from Limon to Kansas
-- Interstate 76 to Interstate 80 in Nebraska
-- US 40 from Limon to Kansas
-- Co 67 from Divide to Cripple Creek
-- Co 96 from Ordway to Kansas

In addition, a number of roads in and around Colorado Springs have been closed. There are reports of severe traffic jams on Academy, and along Powers Boulevard.
Here's a list of closed roads in Colorado Springs:
-- Powers between Barnes and Stetson Hills
-- Union between Academy and Vickers
-- Austin Bluffs between Old Farm and Stetson Hills
-- Academy between Platte and Bijou
-- Academy at Woodmen intersection
-- Academy at York intersection

The Red Cross has set up three shelters in the Colorado Springs area for residents affected by the storm.

Reminds me of one back in 1983 or so, when I lived in CSC. I-25 was closed for 3-4 days and the old Denver airport (Stapleton) which was right downtown was closed down, people laying all over the floors and no concessions were open, etc. What a nightmare and I feel your pain!  :-/
