you won't have to go all the way back to 'stock' mufflers to obtain a level of exhaust note that will be pleasing, not aggrevating.  There are a lot of slip-ons that you could be happy with and still perform better than the stock mufflers.  Sampson has a new quieter muffler that's more free-flowing than the stock ones.  The Reinharts aren't too loud either. Don't think it's a problem.

I had the same issue once.  

I put my stock muffs back on and the bike actually felt stronger!  The bikes are too lean from the factory, so that set-up will be fine with stock mufflers.
