Wow! yesterday's races at Summit Point, West Va ... when they finally got going due to the hurricane ... were no kidding edge-of-your seat, stuff.
I was camped out in T1 & T2 and got a great view of the action ...
Here's a clip of Arnie Hastings ... 53 years old, I believe. Wearing a number 1 plate (won his class championship last year).
After getting a great start, then running off (in T10, I think), then getting back on track, then catching a bunch of folks working his way back up the line, he eventually went down in T1. He's just fine.
It was great watching him fight to make back positions.
I think 9 or 10 people started that race ... only 3 finished.
It was in that wet/"not-so-wet" transition period that always seems so hard to deal with.
Afterwards, I tracked Arnie down in the pits. I said, "Arnie, that was about a 100 mph crash." His response (with a smile), "yeah".
