3rd party ABS flushing gear
« on: January 06, 2020, 06:32:46 AM »

It's for cycling the abs system in the bikes. Guys on the Road Glide forum have been talking about this with good results. One word of advice so far has been to keep the tablet plugged in as it takes some time to do a complete flush with this.

Under $200 for the whole kit may just pay for itself after the first use.

I believe so, or an account is setup per device.

Thanks for the info, I ordered one, will post an update on how it works out.

They have models that will control as many bikes you want for $$$.

More convenient for me to bleed the brakes than taking it to the dealer.

Dealer did the flush 2 years ago and the fluid tested greater than 4% per dealer and the following device.

I bought this unit last year and can confirm that it works perfectly.  Watch the how-to video before starting and then just follow the onscreen prompts.  If you have bled brakes before, it will be very simple for you.  The company owner who also created the software, responds quickly to any question you may have.

Is it locked to only servicing one bike?

I have a Daytona TwinScan4 which bleeds ABS, programs fobs, calibrates speedo, and some other things I haven't used.

For those who do other work on their bikes besides flushing and bleeding the brakes, the Twin Tec scanner might be a better option than the single function app.  You can buy the CAN bus version of the Twin Tech for $400 or less these days, versus $200 or a little less for the app, and as mjb765 said the scanner will do a lot more than just assist with flushing and bleeding ABS systems.  Anyone interested take a look at this listing on ebay for $400, there are other sellers of course so do a search, there may be better prices out there.

The original one listed also comes with a little tablet, it isn't just an app. Not sure if you read that far into it.

Agreed the Daytona unit is more of an all around unit but for people that only want something to bleed brakes in their own bike, the the original eq posted is a better buy.

I missed that part about the tablet, that makes the price look a lot better.  For those who don't need the capabilities of a scan tool, this is great, especially when compared to having to go to a dealer every time you want to flush or bleed the brakes.  Thanks for posting this.

I am looking at this due to having to replace my HCU (THANKS Harley). I have tried operating the ABS at very low speeds and it is easy to get the system to respond without jeopardizing vehicle stability. It's very stable and controllable if you are expecting it. Packed dry dirt or clean asphalt works fine. I have taken it to the point of smoking the front tire!
I'm going to replace the HCU, bleed the brakes, activate the front an rear ABS a time or two, then bleed a final time.
I did call Harley customer care about the problem. Mother Harley has no interest in owning their problems...at least not until several of us die and our families win lawsuits!

I don't have the current version of this tool but I do have the prior one for the prior generation ABS bikes. Have you used it a few times and it works flawlessly. Easy and effective.

Looks like I'd have to spend money for a better version so we can all use it then.

We can then all post in the "what did you do to your cvo thread today" , We sat around the fire at Maggie Valley and bled our brakes.

Each version comes with one license for one bike. If you own a few bikes with the same plug they will supply one or two extra licenses. They didn't say anything about an unlimited version.

If you are a DIY type you can also add the WEGO to the Twin Scan 2 or 4 depending on the year of your bike 4 pin/6 pin and you can do your own road tuning as well, provided you have the dongle to interface with the ECU.

Dongle meaning   PowerVision, TTS, SESPT etc.

I've used mine as well with no issues. The question doing that though is " is the ABS unit open when the bike is off?". If not, then we're not flushing the ABS unit.

What do you mean "open"? I know when I do mine I get probably 2-3 ounces of nasty looking fluid before I get clear fluid out the brake. I'll go through a pint of fluid changing both brakes and clutch.

It could be that when ABS is flushed using a vacuum bleeder it only drains the fluid in the open section of the circuit and not the closed section.
To my understanding the Digitech pulses the ABS unit to flush fluid in the open and closed position of the ABS manifold plus also fluid around the piston seals.

In saying that, I use the vacuum pump method and check ABS function on a test ride afterwards, works all the time.

Well, received the kit, doesn't seem to like my ecu.

Not sure if its TTS or the hd2 software.

Anyway sending it all back for a full refund, excellent customer service!

Anyone have a TTS tune and using the other $400 product successfully?

Cheers!

The TTS does place a lock on the ecm. Some third party apps and the dealers digital tech do not function when the TTS is installed. It is a simple fix though, just restore your ecm back using the TTS software. Then run the third party software to bleed brakes, ect. When completed flash the calibration back into the ECM with the TTS.

Re: 3rd party ABS flushing gear

Update, flashed bike back to stock and the program still not able to flush the abs module.

Owner test my unit i sent back on a 2016 rgs and it worked fine.

Interesting thing when in updated the tts, i received an abs dtc code. Tts instructions said after the update to clear any codes which i did, no further  codes.

Wonder if my bike needs a dealer ecm update or how to tell what ecm version is currently installed?

Cheers.
