New FHLTCUSE3 and love it
« on: August 21, 2007, 10:10:22 PM »

I have 400 miles on my new ride, new to the 110 motor.  I have been told the stock 110 runs too hot and I should look into a race tuner and new pipes.  Anyone willing to shoot a little advice my way?
Thanks,
Ken

You've got several options and you'll get several opinions.  I got 100 HP and 119 ft. lbs. torque with a high flow filter, D&D Fatcats (with standard baffle), and SERT.  You still need a good dyno tuner to finish the job.  I didn't do anything that required cracking the engine open.

Welcome to the site.  I have an 08 SE ultra and they do run hot,  HD claims normal  operating temp as 230.  Have had mine well over that in stop and go traffic.  SERT are supposed to to be ready to ship and avalible but I haven't got mine yet.

Ken,

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new ride.  Which color did you get?

I picked up my 08 SEUC about 2 1/2 weeks ago.  I got the Copper Canyon / Silver Mist (or as I see it, Orange & Silver).  Anyway, I am loving the bike :apple: :orange:.  I took it in for the 1K service yesterday.  I still have a few mods left to do (pull-back handle bars when they become available, for one).

I had the V&H Big Shot Duals and the SE A/C Back Plate installed before I rode the new bike home.  I really like the looks of the new pipes, but they are a little loud for my taste.  I have ordered the quite baffles for these pipes and they should be here in a few days.  I will report back after I get them installed.

I have not noticed my new bike running any hotter than my 02 Ultra did.  I have the HD digital dip-stick and my 08 SEUC is running around 225 degrees.  I did see it get up to about 245 degrees in stop & go traffic in 105 degree weather once.  Like I said, I had the pipes and A/C back plate installed the day I bought the bike, so I don't know what the temp would have been with the OEM pipes and A/C.

When you change your pipes and A/C, you will have to plan to get a SERT, Power Commander, or the like and then get the bike dyno tuned.  This is a must and well worth the investment.

Good luck with the new bike and please post a pic or two when you can.
