I have been lurking for about 6 months now and would like to thank all the members of this site for the wealth of information I have learned about my bike. I bought the bike new in late 2001 from Zylstra HD in Kansas. My wife and I were looking for a touring bike at one of the local dealers in the DFW metroplex when she saw a poster of the Blue SE Road Glide in the women's restroom! We both loved the bike but there were only a few left in the country. The closest dealer with a bike to sell was Zylstra so I flew up there and drove the bike down to Hot Springs Arkansas and met my wife for a shakedown trip through northwest Arkansas. I started the mod process with Vance & Hines slipons, Progressive 440 shocks and a Race Tech fork kit. I then added the SE air cleaner and factory reflash. The bike still ran lean with poor low end response so I adde a PC3 the next year at the Bikes, Blues, and Barbecue Festival in Fayetteville AK. The canned dynojet map made a huge difference in driveability. I've got 25,000 basically trouble free miles on the bike. After reading all the suspension posts on this sitefrom Hoist, Chief, etal, I have ordered a Ride STR8 kit, Bitubo rear shocks, and sent the forks off to Traxxion, (the 440s are clunking, the race tech fork is still undersprung/underdamped, and the bike does the hula over about 60-70 in the twisties). I know it will never handle like my ZX12R but I still would like to optimize ride/handling. I'm also trying out a Supertrapp SuperMeg 2:1 pipe. Having read all the braking posts, I am looking at a Brembo upgrade... Ouch! my wallet is aching...
