And so it begins...

I was just out by I95 and saw everyone heading South! The road was jammed. I got a call from Hogasm who had what he thought was a flat on the trailer. Turned out he lost the whole tire. I was about 12 miles away and meet him at the next exit. All was repaired and he's on the road again. Anyone traveling southbound around mm 14 keep an eye out for a silver rim  .

I'm still undecided about when I'm heading down. The more bikes I see, the more excited I'm getting!

This post is generic enough so all can post their stories which I doubt will be many considering : " What happens in Daytona STAYS in Daytona!"

I am sure everyone coming from the north did get wet. Amazingly, Daytona and places west stayed dry for a perfect day. 

Note: Saturday March 2, the town of DeLand is closed to autos. Just bikes. It's west of Daytona a dozen miles or so.  Music- booze- and the museum, has a bike exhibit. Art of Chrome & Leather, Chis Cruz has a few bikes on display, live music, Free. Good kick start for the week IMO.  Saturday only till 5PM.

Then check out Trader Jacks and OB's., north on route 17 about 5 miles.  After that, go play in Ormond at Destination Daytona, and across the street at the Battlegrounds til the wee hours.  Start again on Sunday...Monday..Tues.. you get the idea.  Bring cash, you will need it for trinkets.

My daughter and I just left DeLand, where it was nice for about 2 hours, then sploosh, the sky opened up and drenched us just a bit. Went home, am drying up, and checking out my wadded up rain gear. 

Looked at someones B/O in Deland with Maryland plates.

      If you're still in the Flagler Beach area next Thursday and after, lookout for a little old guy about 5'4" tall, maybe 145 lbs, long gray hair, long beard ridin a rigid black chopper with a complete chrome skull for an air cleaner. He'll most likely have on farmer jeans and a simple leather jacket that's seen it's share of years. He's one of my best friends in the world and everyone who meets him becomes another friend. His name is Steve, but we all call him Animal, not because he's a badass, but because he's a small furry critter. He lives in Ormand Beach within walking distance of the the ocean. He's in Maine right now as his dad passed away the other day after 98 good years on God's green earth. Animal won't be sad if you happen to see him. He figures his dad had a good life. But my friend has had a tough past couple of years so if you do see him, take a minute to meet him. You'll be glad you did.

Just got back from day trip to Daytona (Ormond beach actually!). Went to Stealer around 10 am, some pretty good exhibitors there ( love that wide tire rear bagger mod !!!! WOW! looks sweet!).  The traffic coming from Daytona and off I95 was terrible ( coming from north on US 1 no left turn have to uee back), back up well past Iron Horse (now locally known as IHS). Don't make uturns around dealership motor cops giving out tickets right and left!. Ventured from there to IHS. Always fun to people watch. ( better yet until 2 pm had $2 bloody marys!). Finshed at Main Street. Fun to cruise to the old stand bys. Rockin music but less crowded with more activity near Stealer. All in all a beautiful day for a ride put a couple of hundred miles on new tranny and rocked out to the Eagles and Jimmy Buffett.

Every Bike Week and Biketoberfest, the Razorbacks ( rockabilly group) bring down the house to close out Bike Week at the Bank and Blues on Main St Sunday afternoon. These guys are so cool and the musci is fabulous. If you're still in town you'll see my bro Animal boogyin on down on the dance floor. Saturday he'll be up on the top deck at Iron Horse close to the bus bar.

I can't express to anyone that has not meet other CVOers the feeling of family that this site has developed. Gary & Patty have invited me into their home as if I was an old friend or relative. We have eaten together, laughed together, cracked up together, helped work on each others bikes together. It is as if we have known each other for years. I truly am blessed to have friends like this!!!

This was the Driftwood Motel that I stayed in on Sat night before Gary & Patty graciously invited me to their home.
I wouldn't really recommend this place next year.

Arrived home safe and sound today.   Wow what can I say about our trip to Daytona. What an awesome group of people that we had the opportunity to meet and ride with!! All of them first class people that would do anything within their power for you. Brenda is just amazed at how well all of us got along together just from being a member of this site. Thank you all for making her first CVO meeting and Bikeweek event unforgettable. I must call out a few of you for the special things. I don' t really know where or who to start with so their is no order here.
 Harry &  michele thank you for the guided tours and setting up the appointment at Scooters to get the bungs welded to Brenda's pumpkin.

 AJ you where an awesome roommate at the Huddle House and a real blast to be with. Next time I will come out and talk to you while you sleep. Thank You for the gift (a California duster).

Dave & Helen nice to see you two again. Thanks for taking the time arranging the ride to Gainesville. Nice to see Helen ride the V rod to Crystal River.

George & Martha It was a pleasure to see you again and meet Martha and your son Daniel. Thank him for getting us all in at the roadhouse for dinner.

Brian& Kathy nice to ride with you guys again. Evil Knievel better look out if you get that clutch fixed.

Ken& Cheri It was great to meet and spend the day at Destination Daytona with you. Brenda had a blast with Cheri shopping.

Phil Brenda and  I had a good time talking to you at the Zippers tent while they worked on our  . Hope you are happy with the new pipes and auto tune. Next time we will have to get together and ride them.

 Gary& Patty I would especially like to thank you for taking us in and opening up your home ( The Huddle House) to us.  What  wonderful people these two are if you have met them you know what I am talking about.  They remodeled a room just for us to come and stay.We felt like we were at home all week.  Gary when you come back north let me know I have some work for you at my house. Thank you so very much.

If I have forgotten anybody I am sorry we had so much fun riding and meeting so many people from here old and new that I am still kind of tired from the week and the drive home it will take me a day or two to get back to normal life.  I will try to post some of our pictures but as you can see AJ is the real picture poster.

I had just pulled over and turned off the bike when Gary tells me that after taking my bike for a ride that morning, he forgot my keys in his pocket! When I left his house, he was standing right next to me so the bike started fine. When I got to the station and got the call, I said oh chit!!! Thankfully I memorized the security code to turn off the alarm!!! Thanks Gary!

So lets see that is 3178 divided by 17.5 miles to gallon ave  = 181.6 gallons of fuel
181.6 gallons multiplied by $3.25 a gallon = $590.20  just to get there
So lets see  590.20 there and back and then there is:
Food
Hotel rooms
New tires
Oil changes
donations.....anyone want to help out a poor plumber

My daughter and I just left DeLand, where it was nice for about 2 hours, then sploosh, the sky opened up and drenched us just a bit. Went home, am drying up, and checking out my wadded up rain gear. 

Looked at someones B/O in Deland with Maryland plates.

I believe that is a Massachusetts plate.

Well, I can't help you on your diet, I got issues about that too.  But it ain't gonna make your bike catch my bike, pounds or not. Why? because chances are, next time we meet, some additional minor mods will have been done, and I will still go a little faster. 

As far as Unbalanced goes, when I talked with him, he has denied doing any modifications other than more fuel.  If he smoked you like you said, it is a bit more than fuel.   

So, soon, I hope, Harry and I will have to do a run. A testing type run, to see what fuel is actually going to do.  In theory, or according to my TMAX map setup on the base, I am running 12.5 - 1 at a wide open throttle position, and leaner of course, in other positions.  Frankly, I think this may be to rich for WOT.

Now Harry, he said he added fuel to make it feel right, since he currently has no way of actually measuring what he has.   Therefore, if Harry and his bike go exceptionally fast when we do this "test", I would surmise that he is running a close to perfect -power AFR. Now I would be impressed, if Ol Harry did this one by the seat of his pants, that would be true genius.

Time will tell, perhaps by the end of the week.
