Just out for a fun ride today, first day we have had up over 80deg's and no rain
Doing about 60mph when I heard some clucking up front,
NO shakes or other noise so thinking i pickup a rock.
When we stop i check things out and found the weights were missing AND some dents in the fender from the inside out. >:(
change our plans and went to the HD shop they re balance the wheel and ordered a NEW fender for me under warranty :)

Damn!!! >:( :( :'( First I've heard this happening on the SEUC... several cases reported on the SERGU - Front wheel weight dinged front fender (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=55493.0).
Are there the same wheels on both of these models?

Shouldn't make any difference what wheels are on the bikes Gary. If the surface is properly cleaned and prepped, and the weights are fresh, you should have to cut them off and use a solvent to remove the adhesive. I remember a lot of reports over the years of weights coming off on various models, and I'm going to take a wild azzed guess here just based on all the other fine stuff Harley does and say they probably have a combination of contaminated wheel surfaces and old weights, possibly compounded by some guy fingering the parts during installation right after eating his KFC for lunch.

try the dyna beads I have them on my fatboy and they work great , without that chunk of lead glued to your nice rim

Hi All,
it seems this Forum will save me quite a bit of money or at least hassles!
Just experienced the same issue as Harley Guy on my FLTRUSE, but just that I had no clue to relate it to the weights and did not even realized that one was gone. Just noted the dents and some paint gone last weekend while cleaning.
Someone from a forum in DE pointed me to the fact that this issue is well known in the US and here it is :carrot:
Now I have sufficient reference to claim for warranty I guess.
Cheers...

At US$700.00 a pop for each fender (+labor) you would think that H-D would have come up with an alternative to avoid this... Glad to read they have covered it under warranty.

Nope...different wheels. Just a bad batch of weights I think, and if you were unlucky enough to get the bad ones on your bike. Or the sticky stuff was bad, at least.

One more fine argument in favor of dyna beads.

Over the summer I posted my problems with this and now that I know what was happening I paid close attention to both my wife's bike and my own. Twice the problem with mine (once resulting in front fender damage) and loose ones on my wife's. Going for the Dyna Beads :2vrolijk_21:
