That's a shame, Chiefy.  They work just great for me.....  I'll be putting a new back tyre on in the next couple of weeks, so perhasp things wont work out then, time will tell.

Jim

I really wanted them to work as I hate the look of the weights on the smooth chrome. Since I'm running a combined total of over 5 oz. of lead, I just think it was too much. Did you remove your lead weights when you installed them, or are you using them in addition to the lead?

Do you know how much lead you've got on the wheels now?

I'm not totally done with them yet. I sucked them out with a vac yesterday so I've still got them. If I can get my wheels trued out to where they don't take as much lead, I'm going to try them again. I WANT them to work, but have to be mindful on how much work they can do.

Took the weights off - none required at all now.

How much lead did you have on there? This would be a good comparison.

Not much on either bike, Chief.  But, in the past I have had tires that required lots of weight as you are indicating on yours.  spyder

If only I could remember.....  :(  Certainly less than 2oz on each wheel.

Were the dots on your tyres properly lined up where they should be?

They'll probably work well for you then. When you try them, make sure to come back with a good report. I really want to get rid of the lead on my wheels and your success will encourage me to not give up on them.

Yes. We even tried moving the tire on the rim 180 degrees to check it and it then indicated a need for 3.75 oz. of lead so we put it back to the original position.

I think you've just been really unlucky with a tyre that needed so much weight, Chief.

Twice. They both need huge amounts. I removed 20 0.25 oz squares of lead when I put the beads in. I'm going to Metzlers when these are done. The installer told me the Metzlers generally do not take as much lead as the Dunlops.

I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I've never had that much on the Dunlops, so I suspect your wheels may be more out of ballance than most....
