Dunlop 407's (where to buy)
« on: August 25, 2009, 01:25:05 AM »

I've googled Dunlop's 407 and can't seem to find them anywhere except HD? Is there anywhere else these tires can be purchased from? Thanks! Muddy

Picked mine up in a place called Crossans in Newry North Ireland, far cheaper that the genuine Harley tires, without the Harley stamp but with the exact same safety load rating, good luck with ur search

the 407/408 tires are dealer only... if you're replacing the front tire, get a 408, as thats the upgraded replacement...

Just went thru this for the second time on my SERK. We share the same size front tire as the SERG/SESG
130/70R18 63V.

but the rear tire on ours is unique to the SERK 3/4 170/60R17 78H.

You can go with the Dunlop Elite3 or D407F for the front and the D407 for the rear if you want to stay with Dunlop.

I'm trying the ME 880 which is currently our only alternative. Their are several post on this. http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=38812.msg619377#msg619377
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=22799.0

If you find something else, please let me know.

FWIW  The ME 880 are doing a good job now! Time and miles will tell

Larry, Matt...thanks heaps for the info!!

JW: Thanks for the links... I did go ahead and return with the 407's all around. Wasn't real  positive in mixing up the set...regarding to having the 407 on the rear and the 408 in the front. I do know that I really liked the handling and responce with the original 407s.. soooo...

Hey JW... While I was up at Parts... I did finally purchase my side lights (thanks to your thread!!) Having said that, For some reason, I thought you re-used your turn signal light (just moved them down) Was this correct? Thanks! Muddy

I've stated this repeatedly! We DO NOT, again DO NOT "share the same size front tire as the SERG/SESG 130/70R18 63V"! Those bikes DO NOT use radial tires! ;)

I think we're saying the same thing Howie, perhaps I wasn't clear. The SERG is a D407 130/70B18 while the SERK 3/4 is a D407 130/70R18. I was talking the size of the rims not the composition/type of the tires (radial v bias) Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

Thanks Jeff... Just have to get into the old post, thread...and see exactly where you drilled and inserted the grouments!! BTW: Did you drill both holes in place?? The new turn signals are on order...and I have the new side lights mounted...sure looks good, even without the new turn signals mounted below. I'm thinking (another option) of not  mounting the turn signals below...but keep my original signals mounted were they are....or even using both!!! I say this...as the light effect (at night) from the original turn signal lights give a nice glow onto my tank area...LOL. How are you liking your set up? Muddy
