Exhaust shields
« on: October 19, 2010, 10:02:23 PM »

Has anyone used the HD heat shields or the RJs leather heat shields.  I have rinehard true duals and the rear cyl exhaust lays right under my thigh.  Hot in jeans and burning in shorts.  Any thoughts other than not to ride in shorts?

I have the HD mid-frame deflectors on my scoot. They work really well but the RH side can be a pain to get the mounting screw tightened up. Prepair to cut off an allen wrench to be able to clear the rocker box. But all in all I love them, they do cut down on the heat from the true dual rear pipe. If you want a pic of them installed let me know.

I guess you could take the shorts off if they're too hot, but you might want to check local ordinances first.

I would like to see pictures of your heat shields installed.  I really only need the one but probably would put them on both sides.  thanks in advance.

That screw on the right side was a nightmare.  I got it tho.   Same thing. I got a hack saw and shortened an Allen wrench.  :2vrolijk_21:  how's the heat issue around the rear cylinder?  Gets a little warm in there I would say.

I purchased heat shields from Captain Itch.  They were to small to start with and Captain Itch replaced them with a custom size built for me.  They are an outstanding company and the heat shield work perfectly.  Installation was a snap.  Remove seat and place heat shield under tounge and replace seat.  Easy as ever.

I tried them and took them off.  I found that the heat kind of stayed there and was hotter than before.  I don't really like the look so I removed them.  I did keep the clip for the cruise cable on though.   Oh well   Another $75 laying in my junk cabinet.

I am only trying to stop from burning my leg when wearing shorts.  The heat shield works perfect for that.  I will attempt to attach a picture.
