A new belt buckle knife for us EAGLE RIDERS
« on: May 22, 2012, 01:32:57 PM »

This is a really great video on a new product.  I'm sure that this has been around the block a time or two but this looks refined.

Is this serious?  :nixweiss:  I thought it was a parody the first time I saw it.

Seems like the worst thing you could possibly do is whip out a two inch switchblade in a bar full of drunken idiots who have real knives and/or firearms.  :dunce: :knife: :zstupid: I hope it comes with a personalized body bag and a toe tag with your next of kin and their contact info.

I'd need a belly retractor first just to find my belt buckle.  :-\  With my luck, I'd forget about it and get detained by the TSA monkeys the next time I try to fly.  >:(

I think I'll pass...

Now just watch.  I'll desperately need a small, handy blade in the near future, and I'll be kicking myself for not getting a BuckleHead.  Just ask Aron Ralston (sp?)  :nervous:

1st & most important it is not a switchblade, it is a 100% legal folding knife.  He is just very skilled with it.  He is quite a character to meet in person.  The magnet is strong enough that you can make it sound like you just cocked a revolver, I don't recommend doing that.  I have had mine for close to 10 years, he does an incredible job on the details you want.

I wear it everywhere I go except to work.

Just spent a lot of time on their website. It looks like it would really work well. Not so much for self defense, but for having it handy for everyday use. I carry a benchmade in my pocket and sometimes it's a hassle to get out when I need to open a box or cut fishing line. Just wondering if the buckle part would seem too big. Now I'm obsessing about it.  Will probably have to get one to see.

The only time I find it bulky is wearing Chaps.  The belt on the Chaps does not lay over it well, I end up with the belt on the Chaps above the buckle.  Of course then I have my .40 stuck in the back and it's all kinda bulky.....

I have had one for a couple years and it is great for the tasks of an every day knife such as; cleaning fingernails, scraping gunk off things, opening letters and boxes, etc.  It is convenient and it becomes an unconscious action to access it.  I was checking into a hotel while on a cycle trip when a woman behind me offered me a coupon for the hotel.  The coupon was in a magazine so, without thinking, I took the knife out, cut out the coupon, and stowed it.  When I turned to give the magazine back to her, she had backed away from me.  It was such an automatic action that it was over before I even thought that it may make someone uncomfortable.  I live in a small town in northern Minnesota and most of the males carry a pocket knife.  The last use of such would be as a weapon.  A knife fighting instructor once said,  "If you get in a knife fight you want it to be in an emergency room".
My only problem with it was at the Saloon No. 10 in Deadwood, SD.  My buckle caught on a the back of a chair, I heard a thud, and the knife was laying on the floor in the sawdust.  I quickly retrieved it and apparently no one noticed; however, it gave me a quick shot of adrenaline.

Don't try & wear it and take the tour of Hoover Dam, you won't get through the metal detector.  I know this to be a true fact  :nixweiss:

Spent some time watching the videos and looking at the web page.  The thought kept going though my head about how skilled he is and can I do it like that.  With practice, I presume.  He was in Reno the last couple of years at Street Vibrations.  I thought they were a little pricy, but given the craftsmanship; about right.

The easy access to it is nice and I can think of a hundred uses, other than self defence. I carry a Leatherman on my belt at work; but not sure I'd wear this to work.  I would wear it if traveling on the bike.  It's always a little bit of a hassle to pull the leatherman out, find and open the blade, then have to put it away again.  The other tools on the Leatherman have come in mighty handy for me and others riding with though; so I doubt it would ever be able to replace it.  Two knives are better than one; right?  Or, perhaps three?  I have a Elk Antler handled 6" buck I keep in the tour pak.

I like the style, quality material and the ease of access.  Will order one soon.  Thanks for sharing!

As Sklywag stated, it is easy to forget it when entering a "no weapons area".  The knife can be removed and the buckle can still be used to fasten the belt.  Replacement knives are available so one can change the design if so desired.  I usually wear my shirts untucked so no one sees it anyway.Positioning the buckle on the chaps below the knife buckle works for me.  I am nowhere near the speed of the guy in the video; however, I'm usually not in that much of a hurry to open a letter.  The unit is made in the USA.

Got mine in yesterday and wore it for the first time today. This is a well built piece! I could not get the knife out at first but once I got it once, it was easy peasy from then on. My grandson refers to it as G-Pa's magic belt!  :huepfenlol2:

Maybe some of you got this "tip" when you bought your knife belt,  if not............If you have your knife buckle on a wide and somewhat (thick) leather belt,  then forgo the usual method where you thread the belt end thru the back end of the buckle so it's on the (outside) of the rest of the belt.

This is the normal and typical way we have all done it for years.  The "trick" is to slide the belt end (behind) the buckle and belt and then hook it wherever you need it for size.   This works to keep the buckle straighter and not angled as would otherwise be. :cherry:
