Title: (Not so) patiently waiting
Post by: G_Fend on October 23, 2012, 11:34:59 AM
So I've got my deposit down on the Crimson Red Breakout, and now it's just a waiting game until the production delays are over.

I've decided to go with the detachable windshield, which is now showing up on the MoCo website.  Also going to go with the engine guard and highway pegs to match the slipstream pegs.

Still trying to decide if I want to got with the detachable sissy bar and/or detachable saddle bags.

According to the V&H website, their 2012 pipes do NOT cross over to the Breakout and they are still working the specs for Breakout pipes.

Soon as it comes in, I'll be flying to KC to pick it up and ride it back to VA.  Hope it gets here before it gets any colder!!

KC (Kansas City?)- I see that a dealer in Pikesville KY has one available right now (if it hasn't been sold).

G-Fend,

I know the feeling.  Mine was shipped on 10/16 and will be at my dealer on Friday, crimson red....

BTW, where did you locate parts for the Breakout on the HD site?  I have been checking everywhere....just see general Softail parts.

thanks!

You can pull down the Breakout if you "Shop by Bike".  Try this link:

Enjoy your bike this weekend!  I'm sure you'll be tempted to ride the whole break-in period this weekend alone!!

I went with Worth HD.  I got a great recommendation from a friend that lives nearby.  They also have a pretty great military appreciation program, so that tipped the scales in their favor!

Any thoughts on what mods you plan on doing to yours?  They didn't really leave much off of these things!  I'm still debating on if I want to get the detachable saddle bags or not...

Hey G.

Exhaust and fuel management(when available).  I hate what the EPA does to Harley's....totally chokes them from the factory.

I am going to desparately try to move my 3" control extensions from my Custom to the Breakout.  I am 6'6" and standard forward controls will have my knees around my ears...I put up with that on my V-Rod, but on a Softail I really want to spread out.  I am concerned that the ABS aspect of this bike might prevent the extensions from fitting.

That's all I want to do...I agree with you, not much else left that has not been done already....

Actually, to Kansas City.

I seriously contemplated riding her all the way back.  But, I think I let my sensibilities take over and I've decided to haul her back in a moving van.  Weather doesn't look all that great, and who knows what winter weather storms can pop up in those hills in WV!!

I'll certainly be racking up those break-in miles pretty quickly though!
