Well, after finding out my air cleaner wasn't sitting flush with the plastic back plate, and realizing I needed to get my bike dyno'd due to some popping issues...
instead of trying to deDEUCE all these issues, I got fed up and removed the enclosed black plastic back housing of my AC and replaced it with an open backplate. Re-attached the K&N and AC cover and all is snug as a bug in a rug. It sticks out a bit more now but after I went down and had the Power Commander optimized and the bike dyno'd, a little leg rub for a few more HP is well worth the trade.

What type of plate did you use? Harley or Ness??

Ness Big Sucker backplate.
