Wow, I am very impressed with this forum already! I have a lot of replies within 24 hours, that is great. I appreciate all of the great words of encouragement. I am all too familiar with the money pit that is a Harley, I completely tore my Dyna down to the frame and started over so I hope I don't have to do as much to this one, but I can't leave anything alone anyway.
So, to answer all of your questions, I bought a 2002 purple SERK. It has 36,000 miles on it. I haven't taken any pics yet since it is actually still in the crate (just got delivered late yesterday). I got some history on it from the dealership it was traded to. It was originally from Austin, TX. I spoke with the Harley dealer in Austin and they were familiar with the bike, it had all of it's service done there. Always used synthetic fluids and all service done according to schedule. The previous owner evidently liked to take nice long road trips so most of the miles are highway miles. I got it for less than $15,000 tax, title, license, delivered to my door.
With the miles that's on it is there anything I should be looking out for or need to do?
