I wanted to let all of you guys know about some issues that came up this week while I had my bike at the local dealership having some "modifications" done.

First of all they showed me where the tops of the valve springs were hitting up against the sides of the rocker boxes, leaving small indentions in the metal.  They told me this was because the valve springs on the 110's are larger then the springs on the 96's.  However, they both use the same size rocker boxes, and apparently there is not enough clearance for the larger springs.  According to my service tech, "this is a known issue with the 110's."

Later,
Ghost

Somebody, have a written document of the MOCO ?

Thanks
Jacques

Just got back from a quick 110 mile put around the western part of San Diego county. Ran into the guy I bought the " bike that became Elvis " from. He has a new SERK with the 110 motor. He has about 12,000 miles on it and has not done any mods whatsoever. Says it's a bit quiet, but it runs good and he's very happy. FYI He also owns an 05 Screamin Eagle V-Rod. His take is these motors were not intended to be messed with. I find it amusing reading all the threads on the site detailing all the issues with this motor that this one guy who is a prissy fussy sort would be the only one happy with the motor in stock configuration. Must be some sort of weird Karma.

Just out of morbid curiosity what additional EPA stuff does a California model SERK have?

I don't think we really want to know but, isn't what we all have to adhere to by 2010?

I don't know what other states have. California bikes have a canister that's hooked up to the gas tank tucked under the frame and of course the obligatory catalytic mufflers. Early on we had to suffer different cam configurations, but I believe that's gone with the onset of the Cat Mufs. Other than that, that's it

I knew about the evap canisters is just figured there must be something really different about it.  I reckon not.  BTW which cams were used in the early models?  Don't they all come with SE 255 cams now?
