Concrete Floor Coatings?

(1/2) > >>

Dan_Lockwood:
Hello all.  Hope you're all staying healthy and safe!

Our new Shouse in Clare MI is about completed... YAHOO!!!

My workshop/garage is 50'x56' and I need to seal it or epoxy coat it.  I will have a hoist and CNC plasma table making some debris on the floor occasionally.

Sealer would stop the dust from the floor, but is NOT impervious to petroleum products, oil, gas etc.  Epoxy would be better, but at a cost that I may not be willing to fork over.

Any experience for rough use and what might work for me?  It will also be the garage for my F-350 and Terrain.  Salt from the winter roads will get into it for sure.

The floor will have hot water radiant heat set at around 60'ish in the winter.  I have around 2,800 s/f to seal/coat.

Let the debate commence!

Thanks guys... :)

I just signed a contract to get my garage floor and back patio deck coated with polyaspartic.  It's more durable and last longer than the more common epoxy coating however, it is also more expensive than epoxy.  Polyaspartic has a life time warranty and a five year transferrable warranty if we sell the home.

Here is a link......not who I'm going with but it explains the differences between the three concrete floor coatings.....

I have the epoxy in my garage and my only real knock on it which is a biggie is its slick when wet.  It has the flakes in it too but when it gets wet watch out, especially in the winter time.  It holds up great, I do all my own bike and car maintenance and you cant tell by the looks of the floor.  Would I do it again if I bought another house, probably not just because of the slickness.

A buddy of mine did a smooth concrete floor and had it polished up like Costco's floors. Looks fantastic and I understand you can rent the equipment to do it yourself. Not sure about the grippy/slippy part but it doesn't seem to be an issue at Costco.
