Took Delivery 09 CUSE - any breakin suggestions or oil additives to help?

I want to take the best care of the new machine.  I read the HD breakin riding recommendations.  Some oil additives claim to assist with new engine break in. Any thoughts on additives to the motor or transmission Syn3 during or after break in.  I've heard of Z-max and Lucas oil additives, but did not know if these would help or if it is just marketing hype.  Thanks!

Welcome to the site glad to have you join us, and congrats on the new ride. :2vrolijk_21: In regards to additives for oil you'll do much better finding a good oil to start with and not add any additives. There are many threads on the site with opinions on which oils are better (BTW - Syn 3 is probably one of, if not the worse) that you can search for. Amsoil, and Mobil 1 V-twin are high on the list along w/a few others.

I run Mobil 1 V Twin in the engine.  Redline Shockproof in the tranny and Redline MTL in the primary...

I think the key is not hammer it to allow the gaskets etc to seat well, I use 97 octane petrol rather than the 93/95.
Otherwise you'll be fine.

Welcome to the CVO site from Washington State.Stick with the oil it came with until it's broke in, then find a brand your comforable with and stick with it. I always change oil at 3000 miles ,it's cheap insurance.

Welcome aboard from New Zealand. I run Mobil 1 V-Twin and have done for 5 years now (after a engine rebuild) without a problem. I also change the oil & filter after 500miles then take the bike back to the dealer for the 1000mile service. I hope you enjoy your new ride and get out on it often.
