But silver is not as good and fast as orange.

Chip, unless N-Line does something for the 09s radically different than they've done for prior models hiding the hitch behind any trim or cladding won't be an option.  Their horizontal receiver takes that hitch and u-joint system straight out the rear.  At least for the prior year model bikes it's a pretty good sized piece too.

Thank You for that picture!

 :2vrolijk_21:

That picture is exactly why I think painting the hitch to match the fender will keep it from standing out so much.

There will be no hiding it, but there's also no reason to wave a flag that it's there.

That picture will be what the 03 Classic looks like and with chrome bumpers on both ends I'm ok with that.

At least from the picture that pops up in my head I'd completely agree Chip.  Chrome against the silver in a quantity as big as that piece will be likely would not be complementary.  It's always going to be there.  But making it blend in as much as possible sure seems like the best look.  Maybe even get a pinstriper to carry some of the blue down to it or something.

Perhaps later also get a piece of square stock that fits the receiver cut to an appropriate length and fix something to it that will look good also.  Use that to hide the hole in the receiver that would get marked up by the hitch for the times the hitch isn't installed?

I thought maybe the oval Screaming Eagle emblem attached to that tube would be a good insert.

Chip, what about that black axel brace that extends from the cargo box?  Can that be chromed?

That's a good idea.

I have already talked with Todd (the painter) about painting them silver!
And FYI, N-line sells them in chrome. (that's always an option if I don't like the look of the silver)
