Ported heads!! Finish product. Check it out. Jprecision.
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:22:35 PM »

Just got these back from Jprecision. CNC ported, CNC valve job. Bigger intake valves, re-shaped ports, Bronze guides, better springs,  $1200.00 shipped. Check the picks. Now a quick de-glaze and a set of fresh rings.  I will let you know how it goes after the dyno. Cheers.

I did not get any specks from Patric at Jprecision.  If you look at his web site there are stats there. All the heads he does are the same as it is CNC. He has bin doing Harley heads for ever, and has the port design down!!! Check out the web site to see more. Then take your heads off and send them to him. I love it, so excited to see the dino results!!  Cheers.

Looking at this on a phone rather than a real screen.  So may not actually see what I'm seeing.  But...  are the valves awfully deep in the head?

I will do the cams next winter. Will go with Feuling high pressure oil pump, hi flow lifters and cam plate ( that nice red billet one ) S&S push rods and S&S gear driven cams with the comp release.  Cheers.

No they are the stock depth. Just the intake valve is bidder. The chamber is polished.  Here is a pick from a different angle.

Oh, Patrick also ports the intake manifold. It gets a type of rough CNC finish to increase air fuel mixing.

Hey, CVO2RIDE, I'm really interested in your numbers after porting.  I look forward to seeing the results.  Do you have a pre-port dyno run so you can compare the differences?

Every Harley mechanic I talk to has different advice, from "You have to port the heads to get the engine to work right" to "You don't need to have ported heads, it doesn't do anything, it's a waste of money".  I get really fed up with the lack of consistency, and I know I'm not the only one.

Every Harley mechanic I talk to has different advice, from "You have to port the heads to get the engine to work right" to "You don't need to have ported heads, it doesn't do anything, it's a waste of money".  I get really fed up with the lack of consistency, and I know I'm not the only one.

I was recommended to this builder in Toronto Canada. Raph at Aviation Motorcycles.  I checked this guy out and found he is so honest and very knowledgeable. The kind of guy that does not really need any more work. He has bike lined up for engine work out the door. I went in to get some cams put in. Raph started explaining to me that with out head work I will not get that much gains from the cams. Said the heads ore the most restricted part of the v-twin.  ( same $$ for the port job with labor as the cams, gears, gaskets, push rods and labor ) So it did not mater to him what I did. He was talking from experience after building Harley engens for years. Then I looked around at bikes in his shoppe and every one who had there bikes built with ported heads were raving about the performance gains. And the quality of the build.  Porting, C&C valve job, valve springs is clearly the way to go. Now that the heads flow to there potential, the cams will do there job.  I don't have the stock numbers from my bike but a stock 110 is about 90 hp ans 90 fpt  I am confident it will be around 110 hp before cams.  I will post the results in about 2 weeks. Cheers.   Check out Jprecision,  give Raph a call 416 477-3239

Ok, flow is 160 CFM @ .600" lift Now will have to choose the correct cam. This will be the hardest part. So many cams, so many opinions. maybe I will go with the marble ones. lol.
