Handlebar Pin
« on: September 21, 2014, 07:11:51 PM »

Anyone tried to pull the pin to allow handlebars on new RGCVO to pivot further forward? Is it a press fit or spot welded? I have not taken it apart yet and wondered if it was possible to remove or not, thanks in advance.

People have reported that a pair of vise grips will pull it out.

That seems easy enough, has anyone actually done it?

I think Dave had his dealer do it when He picked it up. He'll chime in on this thread fairly soon. I'm sure I'll be pulling mine whenever my new one gets here.

I had my dealer pull the pin before I took delivery as part of the Prep.  They told me it just took them a minute or two to do with vise grips.

As you can see my bars are forward quite a bit.

Dave,

Just curious if moving the bars forward change any of the air flow from the headlight vents?  Reason asking is while I was riding, I was pondering why HD pinned the handlebars at that location. While looking down my open vents and mentally tracking the air flow, the position of the handlebars are out of the flow.  If they were moved forward, they would be directly the air path.  My theory (probably way off) is that they are purposely pinned to not disturb the air flow / aerodynamics.

I have no idea on if it changed the air flow, I never road it stock.  Air flow is much better than my 12 SERG or my 09 SERG.

Stock the bars were just two low for me to even be at all comfortable.  These are the same bars that are on the RG special, and the short demo ride in sturgis I felt they were uncomfortable.
