Title: New FXR3 Owner
Post by: fxr3-HD1 on July 07, 2015, 12:06:31 PM
Hello all.....just thought I would introduce myself as I am new and on my way to pick up a mint condition FXR3 and excited to get my hands on it.
Anything anyone can tell me to look for.....possible known issues, etc ????
Has very low miles so I know when not ridden the gaskets are a concern but carb has been cleaned and all parts replaced and properly jetted for Vance n Hines pipes, etc.. Anything else to look at before I turn over the cash....lol... ???

I purchased a low mileage FXR4 a few years ago.  I replaced the battery, replaced the tires, replaced all the fluids and filter, completely flushed and bled the brake system, inspected the fuel tank internals for any signs of rust or contamination - and then rode it.  I've had no leaks or issues of any kind...

Have fun with yours...   :2vrolijk_21:

Polished backrest and luggage rack last night along with cleaned and leather treated the saddle bags,  although not sure i will be installing the bags.

Just thought I would post a quick pic before I actually detailed the bike...will post better pic when finished...took my 1st decent ride this morning and starting to like and enjoy the ride. Took a little getting use to as I have a softail heritage and a VTX1300...not as quick as the ole VTX but handles a lot better..smaller and obviously lighter than my heritage and I love it...gonna sell the other HD now...FXR3 much more fun to ride

You will Love it the more you Ride it. I am a Die Hard FXR Man! I could never leave any motorcycle alone.  Always had to change something. The longer I kept it the most I changed it to my personal likings.  S&S V111 motor,  Rivera 6 Speed O.D. gearset, Scorpion Clutch, Custom S.S. 2 into 1 exhaust,  49mm FatBob front end Hyperpro rear shocks, FXRT floorboards and controls, reworked my Mustang seat, two sets of Led Driving lights,  extra led blinkers front and rear. Bought it with 4100 miles  5yrs ago now have almost 80,000 miles. Love it.

Congrats I am on my 3rd FXR3, they are an awesome bike!! Bought the 1st one back in 99 and never should have sold it! Current 1 has 2700 miles on it, bought it last year with 1600 on it.  AWESOME bikes!!

Can't wait for spring here in MN... I really wanna take this FXR3 out on a few twistys and see what all the fuss is about regarding this famous FXR frame! I had to promise the OL to sell the '07 Wide Glide in order to get the FXR3. I am the 3rd owner. Guy I bought from told me the original buyer paid over $22K new at the Mason City Iowa HD dealer. It's in fabulous condition. I paid $6200 and got the original bars and the 2 FXR manuals with it, but not the original pipes though. Runs great on the short cold test run.
