Nice breakdown off the M8 drivetrain in the link in the article. Upgrades definitely geared towards newer Harley riders who don't think a motorcycle should vibrate, heat up, need aftermarket upgrades to make power, get good gas mileage, not pollute and not be loud! Now where did I go wrong? LOL!

No valve train noise in the new engine. It's gone. However, you can hear a "whirring" sound coming from somewhere if you're listening. New exhaust sucks worse than our stock CVO exhaust. Kinda like a hybrid, waiting for it to make some noise.

I listened to a 107 Road Glide today. It had a whine that reminded me of 671 blower on a V-8 hot rod. A 107 Street Glide had the whirring posted above. I gotta admit I liked what I saw. No 114's yet but expected this week.

That whirring noise is probably the gear driven counter balancer, or the chain driven cam...

I didn't want to get that elaborate due to the small engine size but yup, you're dead on.

One thing I can appreciate is the newly designed head pipe. Love how far away it is from the rider. Showing us short legged riders some love.  :bananarock:

O.K., I took a 17 107 Street Glide for a demo ride today. Conclusion: Very nice ride. Roll on was almost up to par with my 110, very noticeable difference in engine smoothness, no engine noise other than exhaust  :o, easy pull clutch.....not so much. My S.E. clutch is better but other than that I liked it a lot.. Now I really got to try out the new 114.......

I stopped at a dealer last night in hopes of at least seeing and hearing a 17 run also on a long shot I could get a test drive. The saleskid I spoke to said they were just announced on Monday and we will not have any for at least 6 weeks! I mentioned how a dealer down the road was having an open house and test drive event over labor day weekend and he was just flabbergasted and could not believe they could do that!

Test drove '17 Road Glide Ultra with 107 and '17 Street Glide CVO with 114.  Both were with my Sweetheart on the back.  The new rear suspension was noticeably improved.  Both engines still make some lifter noise. 107 engine was unimpressive in acceleration.  114 was descent but by no means earthshattering.  My 110 with 96 HP would walk all over it.  I did buy a new motorcycle last week but NOT a new Harley.

Well that interesting, I rode last weekend the 107 and that was my impression at all. Its way faster than the 103 and close to the 110. Much less valve racket and a great fron end. Oh well.

I test rode a 17 CVO street glide. Short ride so hard to make any real comments. The engine felt smooth and very powerful but with no passenger backrest and the wife hanging onto me so tight and dang near pulling me off the bike I couldn't really hammer it hard. But I felt by the seat of my pants that this 114 was definitely equal to my 110 and possibly even faster. Hard to tell in the short ride and like I say the wife pulling me backwards! Then again maybe it was all that extra power making it hard for me to hang onto the bars and not her pulling on me!

I drove away with a new 16 CVO Limited. So I guess I was not impressed enough to purchase!

I didn't mention that I also test rode a Softail breakout with a 103 engine and the Harley Street 750. I absolutely agree the 107 is faster than 103, even if it was in a much heavier bike.  But the 103 in stock form is just short of pathetic. We will see as soon as someone buys a new 107 and 114 and gets them on the dyno. Also, I will try to get a pic of the new bike on here tonight.

2016 Kawasaki ZX-14R.  I was missing my Buell 1125R so I went for it. No regrets.
