Has anyone tried HOGCOVERS? The plastic covers that go on to the bag lids. Thanks, Dave.

You might want to look at this thread if you have not seen it: Motorcycle Armor (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=73469.msg1011923#msg1011923). Hogcovers is one of several brands mentioned.

I read the post. Saw no mention of hogcovers. This is not a film applied to bag lids. It is a plastic cover installed on the bag lids.

I have used Motor cycle Armor. I have them on 2 RK's Just took them off for new replacements after 3 yrs. and MC sent me back replacements for 10 bucks per bag. They work great and are very durable. Billy

I've not used the hogcovers, but have seen them. I would go with the mc armor linked above. the hogcovers look like a plastic cover on your saddlebags, whereas the armor is a lot more discreet. my $.02

I'd stay away from Hog covers if you live in a warm area (FL for me) I had them on my '11 SERGU and I removed them one day to wash the top of the bags and paint from the saddle bag cover came off with the Hog cover. It appears that the heat glued the plastic hog cover to the lid.
They paid me the quote I got to paint the saddle bag, and the were very accommodating, but not a fan of $120 covers ruining a $40K bike

I did the Motorcycle Armor. You really can't see it. You just wash and wax it with the rest of the bike.

I own Hogcovers and they work great, once installed they are hard to notice and really give me peace of mind that when my BSR is getting on and off that I have no worries about a scratched saddlebag lid, well worth the small investment for a $40K CVO !! my 2 cents worth

I have applied both Motor cycle Armor and HD . The motor cycle Armor has a lifetime warranty. Just send them back and you will get new ones. The Motor Cycle Armor are easier to work with. Billy

YES !! I have used Hogcovers and they worked perfectly !!! My BSR was able to get on and off without me worrying a bit about scuffing, scratching
or damaging my CVO's beautifully painted saddlebags, recommend them highly !!!!

Heads up, had them too in hot FL, took them off to clean under them and some paint from top of saddlebag came off with cover. They reimbursed me for cost of covers and paid to have lids painted, still, hate putting things on bike that cause damage. I will say they were very accommodating and responsive and admitted to damages, but still not worth the hassle IMHO

Nothing wrong with the Hogcovers, but they can not be left on the bike indefinitely. They sweat, attract condensation and damage your paint quickly. Fine if you remove them instantly after riding and store bike without them.
The vinyl/leather covers present the same problem. If u don't believe me remove a bra from front of a car that has been on even for a few months, Big color difference under sweaty bra.

Better than sweaty boobies. LMAO

Honestly I see no need for anything on top of the bags. I have had bagged HD and other brands for decades and NEVER had one scratched on the top. But to each his own. My wife rides probably 80% of the time so if it were a problem getting on and off I can not believe she wouldn't have at least bumped them, but nope. Regardless of what you use to protect them, they look better like they come without anything.
