Title: Garmin Zumo 595LM Discounts
Post by: charles05663 on March 14, 2017, 02:51:30 PM
FWIW

It looks like Garmin is about to replace the Zumo 595LM as they are being discounted $200.  You very rarely see any discounts on the Garmin Zumos.

Great info however, personally  I would not take one for free, had the 6 series on '11 SERGU and I would have been better strapping an atlas to the handle bars.

Updates sucked, could never find a way to see screen in daylight due to glare and unit froze more than it worked. I ended up adding handlebar mount and using Google Maps on phone.

Curious what Garmin said when you contacted them with your problems? I had a problem with one a few years ago and they were great, shipped me one with a return tag for the problem one.
Just wondered how they handled yours.

Same with me, they were great, but had to return unit twice and that got old. Plus updates made units freeze and if it was not night or cloudy, the 5" screen was not visiblle.

i also dropped the last unit and only issue was the power button popped off and did not realize it until the following morning, I actually found the button in the hotel driveway, but it was crushed. Garmin did not make any replacement parts for their units, so I had to rig a paperclip with duct tape into the hole to manually turn the unit on or off.

Where did you see the discount?

One place I saw the discount was Revzilla:
https://www.revzilla.com/search?query=zumo&commit=Search

They are closing out the Zumo 590LM and discounting the 595 and 395's.

I found them discounted at other places for the same amount.
