Title: TTS Competent Dyno Tuners - Ontario border?
Post by: Canuckian117 on March 21, 2017, 02:17:20 PM
Due to staff change @ Pocono HD, I'm looking for suggestions from the membership for a dyno shop with TTS experience.
I'm north of Toronto, so anywhere within 300 miles of the border is preferred.
Any assistance is much appreciated!

Yes, Dave Stoddart is gone. I used him myself too, and was planning to go down in Spring for a clean up tune. I spoke with him, and he would only say he is starting work in an un-related industry. Big loss for sure.

I've always heard Brian Beckley at Zepka HD south of Pittsburgh is one of the best. Not sure if he still works there. I can't recall if he tunes with the TTS.

The only other place I know of is a place recommended by Steve at GMR- Torq Monster in Port Huron, Michigan. I'm pretty sure they tune with TTS.

Forget anywhere locally. The only guy that uses TTS is Task Performance near Mt Hope, but he doesn't even have a dyno, so I guess he just uses V Tune.

Curious to see if you find somewhere I don't know about.

The only other guy I can think of is Wide Open Cycles in Fredrickburg, VA, which is about 576 miles from you. I believe he is a forum member (Chad?), and has a good reputation for tuning. He uses TTS.

There is also "Durwood", who is a reputable tuner from Sheffers HD in Evansville, Indiana, but he is about 726 miles from Barrie.

Not sure how much free time you have, but I think it's well worth travelling to get a great tune. If you don't have time to ride down, you could trailer it down in a day, have it tuned the next day, and travel back home on the third day. I have a buddy that spent hundreds on a mediocre tune from Mackie's in Oshawa, then did a second tune at American HD in North Tonawanda, NY. After all that, I don't think he is 100% happy. Better to lump it and go for the road trip to a great tuner, and be done with it.

There's also Twins Cycle in East Freedom PA,(Altoona Bedford area) they did my 13 CVO and I am very happy with the tune.

Thanks for your replies. I suppose I can rent a trailer and a vehicle to pull it, coerce a friend into lending me a rig or wait until riding season and spend a few days visiting far off places to get this bike tuned with my old mastertune box. Some shops I contacted actually hesitated when I mentioned "the black interface"!!
OR..... I am looking into a PowerVision....
Thanks again for your input.
Greatly appreciated.

Don't know why they would hesitate if they know what they are doing
A good Tuner would be using the green interface to tune with (doing >80kPa with widebands)
then you load the calibration with the black interface

Give Jim Moroney's in New York a call. I have it on good authority that they have a good tuner their.

I just finished training a shop just north of Philly, I believe the name was River City Harley Davidson. I'll check tomorrow to see if that was right.

Ken Puzio, the owner of Black Hills Custom Parts in Rockaway, NJ is an excellent tuner.  Specializes in TTS.  Has done several bikes for me and friends.  Everyone very pleased with the results.  Great guy to deal with.
