Just got back from a 100 MI ride so that I could test out the "Auto Tune". Very Nice..bike seems much crisper and hits harder when I twist the wick. I believe the more cycles I get on it the better it will be. I will be more than glad to assist anyone on the install, I found a few tricks that will help. PM me if you'd like Greg

Greg, my own is coming up as soon as I can get time to get it done. Others will be into it too. So might as well make the tricks public posts. So big boy, what'd you learn?[/quote
Mostly in the software, changing the map to " closed loop". the software didn't open quite like the instructions say, and couldn't figure out how to change the map to "closed loop". I'm sure I probally missed something but finally figured that out. I fired it the first time and the A/F guages didn't work and I thought hmmm.. went back through everyting again and realized the map wasn't 'Closed loop map. Changed that and it worked. Set the IAC stops and monitored the A/F live, kinda cool.I'm not sure that I have the latest " Firmware Upgrade" that's listed, shows I'm supposed to have 4.2 or higher, I have 0X41-08-30-2006. I can't seem to get the " Closed loop processing window" to open" . The system still works because of the defaults in the software, I just wanted to look at it, you know how it is , if it's got a window that's supposed to open i want to see it>>>>I'll call Pat or Pete on Monday.
Make sure and get the " crowsfoot " wrench to thghten up the O2 Sensors. Did it with my own custom made 7/8 wrench, wish I'd had the other. Anti Sieze on the O2 sensors is a must, needless to say, just apply on threads.Make sure you have a set of metric allen wrenches, the plugs for the bungs, in my Fatcat they were metric, Damn near chewed them up getting them out. I ran my front 02 sensor wire underneath the engine brought it thru the "slot between the Primary and the motor. Make sure it's not rubbing against the trans lever. I mounted the module on my ECM caddy, would have been much simpler to mount on the bottom of the battery box but I thought what happens if the battery ever leaks? I know it's probally not likely but......Go to the site print out the instructions and read them 2-3 times before you start. Hope this helps..PM me if you need further assistance >>> Greg

Texas anothe way you should consider is that the wire would run from the front cylinder under the oil filter below the rear master brake cylinder and along the frame back to the the harness and up into the ecm cover. Now if you unbolt the ECM and its pastic Frame you can mount the auto tune neatly with 1 large wire tie behind the ECM by removing one piece of plastic with some dikes. Its a much neater and safer running of the wire you dont have to worry about anything getting caught on the wires underneath and your able to hide it very well along this route. When we test installed it on my 07 that is where we ran the wires and you couldnt tell it was there and no bulges around the ECM.

Thanks for the heads up Greg. For when the time comes where in the software do you make that change? I just opened the program but without it being hooked to anything you don't see much....
Yes Twolane, You open the software, Click on "File", Then " New" and a window opens that shows both formats , CLosed Loop and Standard, then click on Closed Loop and will will convert your map to "Closed Loop" Just go to T- Max site and download the software and start playing. No need to connect to the Module for this>>>> Greg

I too have a question about the auto tune. In central Ohio it is between 35-55 this time of year. If you buy and install it now, will these cold temp's effect the tuneabiltity compared to next spring when it gets to the 70's again?? I guess I'm asking if the cold initial install temps will effect the AT in a bad way when it finally gets warm?
Heck, maybe I don't know what I'm asking [smiley=nixweiss.gif]..
Good question,
I wouldn't think that would affect it at all. It makes small changes every time it's cycled, meaning every time you ride it's dialing in your ECM in small increments, takes a lillte time to learn your combination >>> I buy it, get it installed and let it do it's magic...Greg

This definitely sounds like it's coming from someone that has lost a file before. [smiley=oops.gif] I can relate it's always good to have a backup (I personally have a backup for my backups).

Oh yeah, the unimportant I don't waste time worrying on. Important systems, however, earn a backup and usually a redundant backup. Computer files are just too easy not too though. There's the RAID array in the main box. The automatic 3X daily backups to the USB drive maintained on site. And the 2X daily automatic backups to a remote machine of my own at another location. Then of course ongoing projects just get their files saved every little bit by force of habit. The dual location for that is automatically handled though [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Don,
Symantec has products that do this for you. And the redundant site you mean replicated site :) or do you?
Its not really a field I know a lot about ::) , but I am interested in how you do these backups and with what product or methods you do them with.

If you guys will take a look at JK's Top Ten Q&A of the Auto Tune, #8 indicates any "local" modifications are only stored in the module and do not over write the base map. The base is never changed, unless you download a new one. No need to save another copy, just download another from Zipper's if it's ever needed.

Don if I remember correctly. When you see that prompt and you want to save changes you do that under a different file name. In other words unless you overwrite the original map it will always be save as the number given it by Zippers. When I would do any changes I would use another name for the file that I had just created.

Exactly Mike. Just like any other file handling. Saving as the same name overwrites the original file with whatever changes you've made. "Save as" a new filename creates a new file while leaving the original in tact. Zippers didn't write anything unusual or unexpected in to their software here. It's all perfectly normal and behaves as one would expect it to.
