Auto Parts 30 Micron Filter Correct Replacement
« on: April 12, 2015, 08:26:42 AM »

I in a bind for need of a oil filter on Sunday and the Bike Shops are closed. Does Autozone, Advanced Auto have a correct fitness 30 Micron oil filter that has a element that won't fall a part or leak with Bypass? More I looked the more I realized it mot so simple search for alternative.  They all seem to have 20-50 premium oil and synthetic oils. THANKS

Advance Auto Parts or Auto Zone should have a K&N filter KN-170C for your bike.

Fram makes three grades of filter that work fine on an EVO motor.  Part # is 3600.  It's actually listed for a Ford V6 motor, available at all Wal-Marts.  I've used all three grades with no apparent difference, the high priced one ($9) says it's for synthetic oil  -  I suspect little difference beyond the marketing angle.  Oh, and it's bigger than the stock Harley filter so you get slightly more oil capacity & cooling effect.

Larger Diameter or Length? I have Two Bikes one with S&S motor and the other has Ultima cases.  There is very little space between case and filter. Thanks

The difference is in the length, I'll guess 3/4 inch.  I can't speak to applications for non-Harley engines, mine is a Road King.  It'll cost you $4 to try the standard one.  Don't like Wal-Mart?  All parts houses will have an interchange book to their brand.
