When I lived in Michigan it was around the 1st of November... or the first salting of the roads. Now that I'm in Tn., never.

Phato, We still have to cut back a bit here in TN when temps are in the 20's and ice or salt on the roads.  I never "put mine away" so to speak, just put it on a tender and still get a 40-50 degree day trip occasionally.

When the salt goes down.  However if it rains and washes the salt away, we are out again until the salt comes back.

Northeast Ohio.
.
Usually, the last weekend in October - when I was working.
.
This first year of retirement - might stretch it to mid or late November, depending on the snow/ice/ salt.

When the first blizzard hits :P I know this is flurry to what gets dumped in most pleases but for London it's a big deal. Most years no snow and no salt, so we ride on

Once the first salt hits the road.

You've been busy having those kids so close together. Only gonna get real interesting in about another 13 years. So how many miles did you manage to get in this year?

Between kids....preggo wife....and the best year we've had in commercial HVAC (which means work on Saturdays) I have a whopping 700 miles.  It's supposed to be me this weekend, so I determined to put more on....and I may do a charity ride next weekend.....but my wife's due date is October 27....so we will see.

In TN, my nor my wife's bikes are put up for the winter.  Pretty much ride them year round unless there is fresh salt on the road, or snow or ice.

That said two years ago riding home from our Daughters home in Pensacola on Dec 26th it snowed on us from Birmingham AL to Chattanooga TN.

Nothing like JCZ posted though.

We do ride down into the teens or lower.

I would rather ride in 20 degree weather than 100 degree weather!  Winter is a wonderful time to ride if the roads are clear of ICE.

A "winter" day with temps in the 20's could be considered a heat wave in CT during January and February  :huepfenlol2:

I'm bringing the heated gear with me though, just in case it gets chilly.

I put mine away in mid June, just now getting cool enough to enjoy a ride, will ride now till June except an occasional icey road day, using the heated grips and seat.

This is how we feel about it. I deer hunt in the fall, spring is turkey season so I can still have hobbies in the colder months the bike just moves down the list.
