FXR4 ignition switch
« on: December 03, 2015, 09:41:27 PM »

I do not have a parts catalog yet but I cannot find an ignition switch for an FXR4. The Harley shop here doesn't have one listed either.  I'm guessing the FXR3 switch is the same but if anyone could let me know for sure I would really appreciate it. It is a round key style switch.
The switch on the bike now seems stiff when the key is inserted and it only works once in a while. Battery is good. The problem started after a wash.
Thanks, Lou

Thank you very much!

( an hour later...)

After searching the internet I'm not finding that part anywhere. The local Harley shop told me this morning it is an obsolete part and there isn't a reference to another part. I guess I'll learn to hot wire my own bike, just kidding.
Onward and upward.

I did the same search and see the part number is now obsolete.  Did your dealer do a dealer inventory search?  Sometimes you'll find a dealer with an obsolete part sitting on a dusty shelf...

Otherwise, I'm sure there's a used parts dealer somewhere or swap meet that will have one.   Something to keep an eye open for...

I heard back from the local HD shop. Sales desk talked to someone in the shop and they came up with a part. One hundred plus dollars and I will take my part with me to compare. There are similar looking switches on ebay for 30 dollars or less but nothing listed as fitting an FXR4. I just want to ride, no..., I need to ride.
