Miguel and I rode up to Alpine, Ca. and hooked up with Alan.  Alan led us down through Dulzura, Campo, Boulevard and Jucumba where we got back on I-8 East for a short period of time until the exit for Desert View Tower.

It was already in the mid 80s up here at this altitude and we were about to drop down in to the Imperial Valley Desert way down below.   :nervous:

But first we want to go explore the rock carved scultures.....

After playing in the rocks for awhile, we rolled on down to the desert.  Stopped for gas in Ocotillo for gas.  It was already 92F and barely noon time on the first day of spring.  :nervous:   Made friends with the lady that runs the Ocotillo Trading Post

As hot as it was already, we didn't waste much time sitting still.  We rolled on out in to the desert.  Passed through one of the many windmill farms that are scattered throughout the deserts of California.....

We headed back up in to the hills.....up through Julian and Ramona where we finally stopped and had lunch.  A great ride with great friends....another one down!  :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks JC for the ride report... Wonderful as always.

It is possible to show us the location of the tower on a map, for our next trip to California?  Looks like an interesting place.

I realize that they are considered a necessity, but those darn wind turbines sure do spoil the natural beauty, don't ya think?

Wow, JC.  Such beautiful scenery.  I've never been down to those parts.  It looks like a great view no matter where you cast your eyes.
Soooo much different than the Ozarks.  I was stationed in Tucson for a while and drove straight over on I-8 to San Diego once.  My one and only time.  Beautiful country.
It looks like Miguel is fitting right in with the CVO crowd.  It's a good group to be a part of.

Definitely looks like sunscreen weather!  Thanks for sharing, brother!

You can google map  "In-Ko-Pah Park Rd." or "Desert View Tower, Jacumba Hot Springs, Ca."  and come up with this....    https://www.google.com/maps/place/Desert+View+Tower/@32.6592622,-116.1021101,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x80d9bcefffffffff:0xd268407249d02b73

NOTE:   when it looks like you're at the end of the road and there can't possibly be anything else further down......just keep going.  It's all the way at the dead-end where the asphalt road ends (only about 3/4 mile from the interstate off ramp). :2vrolijk_21:
