First welcome to the website!

I have not owned either model of bike from what I have read though it's like comparing apples to oranges with each having their good and bad points.
Breakout has air-cooled motor in a more traditional style with low end torque. The Vrod has water-cooled newer design motor that may be more dependable but it has less low end torque were most riders operate on the street yet it has high HP in higher rpms. It also may be a small bike if you are a larger rider.
For me it would boil down to what style you prefer riding on......a cruiser or a sport bike.......

That's a pretty meaningless question.  The immediate comeback will be, "better for what", so why don't you just explain what it is you intend to do with the bike, assuming you actually decide to buy one?  Better yet, why not visit your Harley dealer and arrange to test ride each one and decide for yourself.  They are two totally different bikes.  Spec sheets and OPO are only one small part of the decision making process.

Night Rod or VRod?

I have a 13 BO and my buddy had a VRod at the time. Both stock the VRod wins off the light but it is not a blow out. I can ride further without a break because the VRod seating position is a bit more aggressive, but again, stock seat.

Isn't the Night Rod a blacked out Dyna? Not sure if that is what you meant.

Like said above, define better because we all have different preferences that define our perfect bike.

Night Train was the blacked out Dyna of ol, the Vrod is typically the Silver version, and the Night Rod is the Blacked out version.
The tech specs are so close between the two that the only real difference is the motor and trans . Hp the Night Rod wins, torque the CVO wins. Mileage the CVO wins, RPM limiter the Night Rod wins(9k). "trans" being it has a 6gear CVO wins. Lean angle the CVO wins (6degree difference). The riding position feels about the same to me.   Night Rod is abit of a dead horse below 4k rpms its all HP and RPM. So it's a toss up between the two. Test ride them both. I love my 12 Night Rod but for me its a purpose built bike "straight line monster" that will corner.

Which is better?  Probably depends on what you value more, two totally different bikes.

I own a 2014 cvo breakout and a 2008 night rod special. I never ride the night rod anymore, much rather ride the breakout. I am 59 and find night rod uncomfortable and living in Aust the night rod get extremely hot on the legs. Mods to my cvo makes it a faster and slightly better handling bike. Am thinking of selling night rod and buying a Road King so I can get back to long distance riding but never sell the cvo.

I had both and prefer the CVO Pro Street.  Much more comfortable ride also.  Isn't the V-Rod coming to end of life according to H-D?
