Amp is around $400 speakers $299 wiring harnesses $349 plus a misc part that goes over the battery. Parts alone are almost $1100 the amp goes in the right saddle bag and everything gets connected. That's why the labor is 3 hours.  The reason I want factory speakers is the way the Boom II system works. It constantly reads and adjust everything to equalize the sound and I'm concerned different speakers will through it out of wack.

If one adds saddle bag lid speakers, where's that amp located? & that cost has to be more with color matched lids needed  ???

From what I can tell from the Harley website my FLTRUSE does not require the amp to be added. I took the plunge and ordered the speaker kit from surdyke.com (20% off). I will report back to the forum here once I get them and see what the instructions say.

I can't see how you wouldn't need or want the AMP. They seem to have been designed for an AMP.

I called this morning and spoke to local dealer, No amp required per him on 15 RGCVO. NO additional wiring harness needed other than the necessary harness that is included with the speakers which clip in. Installation would only require removal of outer fairing, which is pretty easy, that I know.
He may be wrong, but even if it takes a dealer flash to activate, that is pretty minor. He could find no additional harness even listed and nothing to do with any kind of kit around the battery. They have a speaker kit ordered for another guy and will call me when it comes in and I will go by and check it out, if it is as simple (and cheap) as they say I will have to have them for $240 after discount.
NONE of this applies if you have Boom II, then you do need an amp and additional stuff. I do not have Boom ll and do not intend to buy it.

after reviewing the specs again. they probably will work without additional amps on boom II equipped bikes. the speakers are 4 ohm, so they shouldn't add or decrease load enough to upset the amp(that is if the factory amp is of any decent quality lol).

thanks!!! those look really good! just curious, do you think you could fit another brand of speaker in the housing? most guys i know tend to skip hogtunes in favor of higher end car or marine audio. but I do like the look of them.

Well I don't know about a different brand speaker fitting hogtunes pods. I know hogtunes ain't known for their high end speakers. But I will say this me and a friend of mine who is a sound freak were amazingly surprised how powerful the little guys were. And additionally their particular tone which is a midrange cuts right through the wind and exhaust noise. To the point I had to regularly turn down the volume when I first installed them. And that's rare cause I am half deaf any way. Hogtunes pods come flat black. I had my painted vivid black. Even though my bike is the carbon crystal with phantom flames. The vivid black looked fine to me next to the lowers.

For those still interested, I went to the dealership yesterday to check on the installation of the lower speakers, and according to their parts list, a new amp and harness IS needed. the new amp will be mounted in the right saddlebag and it's $699 for the kit in the Motor Accessories catalog. So it is indeed quite expensive.

Well I just received everything for my Boom Audio lower fairing speaker install on my FLHXSE. With an additional aftermarket one year warranty on every component came to a  total of $936.00. I am doing it myself so I have no labor charge except for the dealer to enable the six speaker system. I just need to find some time on the weekend to do it before opening day of archery season.
