Does console have to be removed prior to tank removal 2015 RGU
« on: November 07, 2016, 08:03:56 AM »

Good morning all,

Is it necessary to remove the console on a 2015 CVO RGU when removing the fuel tank?

There is a harness under it, I think for the CB and it looks like it terminates under the seat (4 pin connector).

I would like to remove the tank as a unit as a previous post for a 2012 RG.

Ryan Urlachers video removed the tank/console as a unit although its a street glide, looks like it has the CB option as well.

Hopefully its ok to post the schematic of the console.

Ride safe!
Cheers!

I'm gonna say Yes.   My previous bike was a 12 Road Glide and I had to remove the tank once for an upgrade.  I had to remove the console.   Was very easy though,  with the fuel cap removed it just lifted off.

It is also Step number one in the manual for fuel tank removal.

Might check closer.  Hate taking things apart and later figuring out it was not needed.  I had to lift my 2015 tank to run some electrical under it and all I had to disconnect was mounting bolts front/rear, fuel quick connect and wire connectors under the seat.  Did not take it completely off so not certain but it was pretty free to move it around.

Take the front and rear bolts out of the console, then lay the console back on a towel where your seat was (just rotate the console backwards).  You do not have to disconnect any wiring.
