Paint code?
« on: December 08, 2016, 01:04:38 PM »

Does anyone have the paint code for Harley 2013 Roadking CVO Blue Sapphire. I've done some upgrades to my bike and need to match the paint.

I don't think you will get them as H-D keep them close to their chest. I had to get a custom paint guy to match my 2014 SERK by trial and error.

A jobber or shop that mixes PPG can decode it based on the color name, in your case "Blue Sapphire". It must be the exact name that Harley used for the color that year.
I have done painting on all the CVO's I've owned and they all match exactly using this as a platform. VERY important the guy mixing it be exact on the formula and the prep and base be sprayed EXACTLY as PPG says. If so you will have a great match that will not require blending and prevent  "custom" painter from ripping you off.

Yes, more photos needed!  Your bike is a thing of beauty.  Tell me more about your bars, who makes them, how tall and much longer hoses and cables needed?  I have a CVO RK and want ideas for apes and yours look mighty fine.

I was told by local dealer parts dept that the under-side of the tank is where the sticker is that has the paint code. Not sure if this is true or not, may be worth a look.

I have removed the tank on every Harley that  I  owned at one time or another and have never seen a paint code sticker. But maybe they exist on others.

Any sticker on the underside of the tank is most likely the one the vendor puts there to identify the part and often also has the initials of the person inspecting that part.

Harley assigns a three letter color code to the CVO parts that identifies the color and graphics, and those codes become the suffix on the part numbers for the various painted parts.  However, those are not necessarily the same thing as the paint codes you would need to have a quantity of the correct color mixed by a paint supplier.  For that you would need to use the method described by CVODON above.

DQW - Burgundy Blaze with Hot Fusion Graphics
DQY  - Crushed Sapphire with Cold Fusion Graphics
DLE   - Diamond Dust/Obsidian

1fordman,

The bars are 14" Mini Apes from Hawg Halters. I believe they were call "Reapers". Also I was able to  maneuver the old cables to fit .
