Corbin Seat Question
« on: December 17, 2016, 09:55:41 AM »

I'm thinking of getting the Corbin Dual Tour seat for my 2014 CVO Limited.  It has had the stock Hammock seat on it since I bought the bike and the clear coat on the tank under the seat is pretty hazed up.  My concern is that the Dual Tour will not cover all of this hazed area.  Will the Dual Tour cover this area?  I'm going to try to buff it out, but haven't done it yet.  Thanks.

No idea on whether a Corbin would cover your paint damage or not. But if the tank buffs out you can prevent it from happening again by putting a creatively cut piece of 3M clear protective film on the tank where the seat is chaffing it. The 3M will stop the contact with the paint and if it becomes dull can be buffed back or just replace in 5 minutes.
I pick up waste cuts of film from local sign shop for a dollar or so. Always cover this are on my bikes as soon as possible after buying them. If you don't feel comfortable wetting the tank and applying the film about any sign shop or wrap business will do it for you.

I've had four Corbin seats on different models (two were CVOs).  None of the Corbin tongues go up as high on the tank as the stock seats.  But if it's not all the way through the clear coat to the paint, just about any body shop (or even a good detail shop) should be able to buff that out for you for a few bucks.

Thanks for the replies.  If I get a chance, I'm going to try to buff it out today.  I actually have some protective film.  When I had my 12 CVO SG, I had a solo seat on it and a pillion for when my wife went with me.  I use to put it on the back fender before I put the pillion on.

I have a heated Corbin seat for the 2014 CVO Limited if you are interested. I have used it for 3,000 miles and switched to a Russell this year. It's black with leather on top. In perfect condition.

I also have the oval backrest. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you some pictures.

$400 for saddle and backrest plus shipping seems fair. (Over $1,000 new)

I sent you the pictures to the e-mail address that you gave me  :nixweiss:  Might want to check your spam folder, it could possible be there. Good luck with your new seat whatever you decide to buy. You can't go wrong with Corbin in my opinion.

I checked the spam folder.  Nothing there.  But I'm the last person to figure computers out.  I think I'm going to stick with the stock Hammock seat for a little while longer.  Thanks again.
