I just learned that there was a stage I and II, Was under the assumption that the CVO's came with the best available. I know, stupid me. Friend bought '16 CVO Street Glide, I bought '16 CVO Road Glide. I have stage I, he has stage II. His sounds a lot beter than mine volume wise. I am not going to spend $2K just to have music louder.

My question is...was stage II an option on the Road Glides or was stage II just model dependant?

Model Dependant Glenncarp. Apparently the MOCO decides arbitrarily to equip the various CVO models as they see fit. Not sure if they still publish a separate CVO sales brochure, but they used to itemize which optional P&A equipment each of the models came with as standard equipment. The CVO Street Glide typically has been equipped with the best available audio equipment of the CVO lineup. My 2015 CVO Road Glide came with the Stage I audio system and I've just finished upgrading to Stage II. Haven't taken any high-speed rides yet .....but the system sounds awesome around town !

Hey Glenncarp, TM pretty much nailed it right here. MoCo seems to give the SESG and SERG the "fun" extras such as stretched bags and better audio while the Ultra versions of those bikes get CB, Intercom, Tourpack, etc.

I just realized your profile says you have a SESG. Are you looking to do the lower speaker kit on yours?

Yup. That is the true underlying meaning for my original post. I was curious what I had and whether or not I needed to upgrade EVERYTHING or just add the lower speakers. Which I will purchase on Saturday.

Kinda disappointed to spend all that money only to find that the wiring harness is too short. Phreakyz did you ever make your extension? Does it even plug in?

The connector at the saddlebag was not too short for my installation.     I am assuming the difference between the 2015s and the 2016s?    Remember that the 2015 FLHXSE had different disconnects for the saddlebag speakers and amps.    My 2016 has the larger connectors that you slide the locks to release.    I would have liked for the harness to be longer on the other end (front of the fuel tank area)  it would have made for a neater install but it worked out fine.

Hey everyone, just an FYI for anyone looking to install the lower fairing speaker kit... If you have an aftermarket ECU, such as a Thunder-Max, like in my case, make sure you bring your stock ECU with you to the dealership. When I went in to get my amps flashed, they could not communicate with the Thunder-Max installed. So, I will need to go back with my stock ECU so they can complete the flash.

Hey mturner ......please let us know how much the lower fairing speaker installation improved your sound. I'm wondering as your existing Stage II speakers are three-way with 6.5" woofers and these "twin cooled" speakers are two-way (tweeter and bass/midrange) with significantly smaller 4" bass/midrange drivers. Presumably there should be mostly higher frequency sound improvement from these as they don't have speaker enclosures to enhance bass like the 3-way 6.5" non-twin-cooled lower-fairing versions do. On the other hand, you're still throwing a dedicated 300 watts at these two smaller speakers .

I'm heading back to the dealership this weekend to get the amps flashed with my stock ECU in place. I've got over 500 miles with the stock stereo system, so I feel I should be able to give a good review. I'll let you know.

The new speakers and flash definitely help! Like Phreakyz said, you can really feel the bass now (and I run my EQ below half). I think that with the new speakers handling more mid range frequencies, the flash designates more bass to the rear speakers. I am pleased with the purchase. Now, does it make a HUGE difference? No, but it is noticeable and I am content.

The fade and balance adjustment screen is now made into 4 squares. And you can move the cursor to get sound balanced the way you want. I'll take a picture when I get home. Might even post a video.

Well bust my buttons....I had never noticed that!  I looked this morning and yeppers, stage 1 on my '15.  It sounds great and is an improvement over the old system but dang it all (and this site....again), now I'm'a thinking what am I missing from 1 to II?  So, what would be involved with upgrading the current system to stage II and no lower speakers...just the ones in the current locations.  I'm all for upgraded sound and more speakers but the faring lower speakers with the twin cooled bikes aren't for me.
