Retail sales of bikes don't enter into the equation, Harley sells bikes to retailers.  But yes, all sales of motorcycle related products such as parts, accessories, financial services, whatever, are included.

"Revenue from motorcycles and related products fell to $933 million from $1.01 billion."

Jerry
OK. That last line cleared it up for me. When I said "retail", I meant the clothing and other stuff they sell in the stores. I should have made myself more clear. Thanks again.

A lot of faulty assumptions here guys. Just because revenue is down and EBITDA is up does not in itself signal an issue. Dont base your stock investment on comments here  :drink:

Trust me, you don't have to look to competitors to find people badmouthing the MoCo. There are very reliable "Harley Haters" in this forum who buy 'em and bitch, buy 'em and bitch. There are certain individuals who will be guaranteed to post in every pessimistic-about-HD thread. I'm no sycophant, but if I hated my bike as much as some *sound like* they do.... I'd get shed of it.

True.  For some the glass is not half full, or the glass is not half empty, the glass and everything in it is Harley's fault and besides that Harley won't do anything about it.

This article says 50 new HD models in the next 5 years.  Appears to indicate a line revamp.  http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2017/01/31/harley-davidson-plans-50-new-models-over-next-five.html?ana=yahoo&yptr=yahoo

Read an article that auto sales are down for 4th quarter 2016.  A healthier economy would help sales.

I apologize if this has already been posted. Not sure what to think about 50 new models.

Changing a paint color and adding a new piece  of trim then calling it he "new" Dyna Super Ultraglide Semi-Low really shouldn't constitute a new model.  But this is Harley's intellectual and commercial vigor we're talking about....

Exactly what I was thinking.

By the way, how in the wide world of sports do you introduce 50 "new" models in 5 years when all you have to work with is the same, basic layout you've had for roughly 106 years (not counting the single years)?

Maybe electric?  :nixweiss:

Maybe something geared toward an under 50 age group?  :nixweiss:

Maybe "reintroduce" some older models from the past as new models, done retro?  :nixweiss:

Maybe they just buy Honda MC & be done with it?  :nixweiss:

They need to really focus on drivetrain quality control. Brand loyalty is one thing but shelling out $25k or a lot more for a garbage wagon is another. AMF v2 is where they're headed doing things like this.

50 new models?  I guess the just released RK Special counts as the first of 50.  Rear fender from a SG, stretched bags, blacked out motor, apes, no windshield, larger front wheel.  Basically a Road King that's been drug thru the accessories catalog.
