Carrying drinking water bottle
« on: February 15, 2017, 12:04:02 PM »

In my old 09 Ultra, there was one compartment on each side in the fairing lower/leg  fairings.
Now when I have a 2016 CVO LTD, I cant find a good place to store a drinking water bottle accessible when riding.

How do you guys solve this problem?

I don't like clutter on the handle bars so I went to a HD accessory pouch for the rear crash bar.  You can get them for either the right or left side and they come with a water bottle which unfortunately, is not insulated. I therefore use a Camelbak, insulated drinking bottle.

I usually carry it in the bags and stop for a break, but sometimes I'll just lay a bottle down between the saddlebag and the seat. Nice and free.

I'm with Greg on this.  I don't like the look and clutter of the handle bar bottle holders.

I have the saddle bag guard rail bag with water bottle holder on each side - one for me and on for my co-rider.  We use insulated aluminum Thermos bottles which we've have for well over ten years.  In addition to holding the water bottle there is a storage pouch that is great for holding tools and other small items and an added bonus is that these protect the front of the saddle bags from road debris.  For us it is a win, win.

X3... more than likely I'll need to let "out" some water from my last stop. :D :D

Hers

We use the same setup as David's wife has in the back seat.  My wife's the keeper of the refreshments, so when I need a sip, she hands it forward to me ready to drink from.  Works well enough!
You can see it in my sig post below.

When it's over 105 we wear a Camelbacks filled with ice and water. Over 110 it makes a huge difference being able to hydrate every five minutes vs every hour plus. You won't pee as much in very hot weather.

Mine is on the handle bar, only for trips as I'm not wild about clutter on the bars.  I do not like saddle bag guards, so I removed them when I had the CVO Road Glide Ultra.

As for take a break, when headed west in the summer, we ride 200 miles between stops.  Its nice to just take a sip now and then rather than have a whole drink at the stop.  Taking sips as needed, means I do not have to stop to get rid of it as soon.
