GMR 113: Kury mellow crushers vs. Fullsac 1.75
« on: February 28, 2017, 08:45:16 AM »

Steve is building me a 113/10.6/S&S 585...I have the fullsac 1.75 baffles and notice a lot of you have the mello crushers.  How do they compare for sound, especially a lower deeper sound and how do they tune out with the above combo?

I posted this here rather that in the exhaust area b/c the twin cam is more active.

Thanks...

When Steve built my 113 he recommended the Crusher Mellows over the V&H twin slash rounds I had. The Crushers moved my torque curve to the left quite a bit. They have a nice "mellow" tone when cruising and really bark when I crack the throttle.

When I bought my RK it had stock SE mufflers with 2" Fullsac cores but the motor was stock. The pipes had a nice sound but I liked the Crushers better so when Steve did the 117 build I changed to Crushers.

My comparisons aren't "apples to apples" since I was comparing the Fullsac's on a stock 110 with the Crushers on built 113 and 117 engines but I'm very happy with the sound and performance of the Crushers. Steve didn't have any tuning issues with the Crushers, I'm sure he wouldn't have recommended them if they were a problem.

Hope this helps some. Good luck with your build. You're gonna love it!

JoeVibe,

You are awesome.  I followed your posts with Steve as your first bike was being built.  So the RK went 117?  Very cool.  It sounds like Steve is the man.  I have really enjoyed talking to him by phone many times.

It sounds like the crushers are the ticket.  Does Steve sell them?

Thank you

Steve sold me mine. You need to check with him. He was real specific as to which crusher to got. If I remember right, they are 505's with trident tips.

He wanted to put a different exhaust set up on my King but I insisted on the Crushers. Mine was the second 117" he built and he really wanted to top 140-140 (I think his first 117" hit 138). He thought the Crushers were choking down the top end power but I really like their sound. I figured I'd be plenty happy at 136-134 and I was right.

That is a ton of good power. I would think you would be real happy with those numbers!!!

the FS 1.75 baffle vs the FS 2.0  with the 1.75 it will build tq faster and give up maybe 2-3 on peak hp. the 2.0 will be a bit slower to bring the curve in and gain a few up top.  Being that they no longer make the cursher mufflers , you can find a few places that still have stock if you can grab them up. I feel the FS baffle works extremely well as well FS now makes his own mufflers .

A bit of noise in the graph the tires where chopped badly , and thus it transferred into the graph at higher speeds . This is a DX with fulls sac 2.0 mufflers.

Thank you Steve.  I think I will leave the FS n place then.  This is obviously a 117 but the 113 will be similar. I knew the Crushers had some new models but didn't think the others were going away.
