Hello,
I'm new to the forum and new to CVO's. I have a question about a 2010 CVO ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE in Crimson Mist. 789 of 999. A friend of mine, who recently passed, had left behind his CVO. It has 73 miles on it. The back story is that he purchased it directly from the factory as it was used for promotional purposes. Apparently this makes the bike different than others, or so I am told. I sort of have to call BS, but I am curious, can there be some merit to the story? Would the VIN shed some light on the subject?

I have to agree with twolanerider, a 7 yo bike w/ 76 miles on it is rare as it is...

If there is not documentation to validate this then it ain't so... even if there is documentation what "promotional" purposes was it used for. With that low mileage to me it couldn't have been much promotional purpose. IMO sounds like somebody bought it because it was a limited number produced thinking that some day it would be a rare collectible (which it isn't in my opinion). :nixweiss:

I agree with Dood, to many of these stories around and yet none of them have documentation.

I agree. I'm dealing with two of these "special" CVOs and can't verify the stories I'm being told. I'm under the impression that unless the bike is numbered, it's really not a one off or something factory custom.

    • CVO1: '05 Jalapeno 1 of 692 sold
    • CVO2: '08 Duracell #601 of 1,800

Thankfully I still ride a CVO ('08 Duracell), it is a numbered edition, and it is certainly more special than any other - to me!

Just sayin'

I'd have to answer your question in the negative.  The most special CVO (to me) is mine.  I think you'll get that opinion a lot!   :orange:   :2vrolijk_21:   :2vrolijk_21:

It's poppy cock.  No bikes are sold to the public directly from the factory.  In fact, I'm 100% positive that after all the bikes being used for marketing purposes are completed, they all go back to Juneau Ave. where they are checked, serviced and repaired, if neeeded then are grouped in packages that are presented to the dealers for purchase via bid process.  The Motor Company will never sell a bike to the general public outside of the dealer network.

Also, there are no specially built bikes for marketing or advertising purposes.  They are manufatured the same way that the bikes the dealers order.  The only difference is they are ordered by the Company.  Everything else is the same.

And I thought you were going to say that only the BLUE CVOs are special.

Of course not! My last one was yellow.  :huepfenjump3:  They are all special except at the red ones.    :cherry:   :huepfenlol2:

Yeah, that's why I sold my red one and replaced it with an Orange K1600GT. :)

If it's got two wheels and you're on it, it's special.   :coolblue:
