Bars
« on: March 19, 2017, 02:16:08 PM »

Does anyone have pics of their street glides with apes on them? I am looking at the yaffe bars either 10 or 12 and also interested in the factory 47 bars. Little nervous about doing the work myself. Working on my bike doesn't bother me it's just wiring that gets me a little nervous. Also worried about spending the money on new bars and not being happy. Would really like to see some pictures and what size and brand, and if you could keep the stock mirrors.

Thanks
Kevin

You may want to try using the search feature in the advanced mode for this board (Street Glide)... doing that searching for "Bars" in the topic resulted in 3 pages of hits... with pictures in many of them.

I just put 10 inch Paul Yaffe Monkey bars on my 2012 CVO Street glide.

Here is a picture. With the 10 inch Yaffe bars I did not have to extend or remove the hydraulic brake or clutch lines and all the wiring was long enough without extensions. Any higher than 10 inches on the 2012 CVO street glide requires extensions. I was worried about loosing the stock mirrors which you do with the 10 inch bars but found out that the mirrors  mounted on the bars are much more effective than on the fairing, also with the 10 inch bars your hands are still behind the fairing.

Look up Vindikta Bars. I have these bars on two of my bikes and I love them.  Quick turn around getting them over Factory 47 and made in the USA.   Quality product.

Just put a set of KST 12" Mayhem Bars on my 2015 Limited. Made in USA. Stainless Steel. Beautiful looking Bar. Wiring and Brake/Clutch lines fitted.

Hi Kevin

I used the Factory 47 12" look great and I like the feel, I cant download pics send me your email or phone # and I  an send, also the street glide bar diameter is different from road glide, I changed the cables they say you don't have to but i wanted them close to  bars rather than straight from fairing to controls, had the dealer do it seemed beyond my capability I believe its shown on you tube

J Heinlein do you have any pics of your bike with the bars, also what size did you go with?  Ptnlinda the kst bars don't really get my attention. I know they aren't far from the design I am looking at but for some reason don't like the look.

Thanks

Kevin thats fine. I got them because I am a fan of Stainless and thought the price was right. Liked the look as well. Solo seat just turned up today so will get it on over the weekend and hopefully post some pictures. Just fitted the detachable kit as well so I can take off the top box as well.

Kevin,  I went with the 12''. Each manufacture measures the height in a little different area of the bar.   They all are close to the same but an inch or two can change everything.   I will post a pic this evening when I get home from work.  My  Bars are just above the fairing.  I didn't want my arms any higher them my shoulders.  Use to be able to ride like that when I was young.  Too much pain for my ole body.  My buddy has the Factory 47 bar and once the bar gets out of the dash/fairing  area you can't tell them apart

Yaffe and Factory 47 Bars are measured differently.

Yaffe 14" bars are a good two inches higher than the Factory 47 14" bars.  I had two bikes in a row with Yaffe 14".  Then the 3rd bike I had 14" Factory 47 bars put on.  Accused the dealer of putting the wrong height bars on.  Saw the packing and it all said 14"  Called Factory 47 and they assured me those were there 14" bars.

Factory 47 are very nice bars, comfortable also and well made.  Just know they run short compared to Yaffe.

Have Yaffe 14" on this new Steet Glide.
