Need aftermarket exhaust asap
« on: March 25, 2017, 08:32:21 PM »

I just brought home my 2017 CVO SG last weekend and I CANNOT stand the way it sounds. 😬 I don't even want to go on another ride until I get them swapped out. Lol I'm looking for any recommendations.

Lol I know exactly what you mean. Sounds like a Honda Davidson. I am in the same boat with my 17 and plan to buy next week. Looking at either the S&S MK45's or the 4" Rineharts.

Probably just the exhaust and a good tune for now. I'm not sure about slip ons though. I've always had Vance and Hines but didn't see anything from them that fits this bike.

I have been struggling with the sound since I picked up mine middle of Oct. Tried a couple of different slip ons but even the CFR's I tried sounded "clogged up". I was so hung up on keeping the bike under warranty I have been torturing myself for 5 months. My dealer has been terrific and a couple of weeks ago installed a Fuel Moto head pipe with the CFR's and tried to tune with the Pro Street tuner but of course it couldn't be done. They suggested I get a TTS tuner and a good tuner to make everything work (CA dealers can't use dyno's) and if there ever is a issue that they can't approve by themselves we could re flash and lay the stock exhaust by the bike for the inspector to see.
I know the CFR's are not great for performance but my brother in law has them on his CVO Roadglide and I have always loved the way they sound and I have Boarzilla's on my other bike (which I also love the way they sound) so I decided it was worth it to me.
Today I took my bike to Gene Thomason who Steve Cole recommended in Gardena CA and all I can say is WOW! not only does the bike sound absolutely amazing, it runs like a completely different bike! Of course I am losing some torque at the bottom (but still way better than it was) but the bike is pulling hard all the way up. Ended up with 120 TQ and 116 HP (i have the stage 3) and really didn't know there would that much of a difference with a talented guy like Gene doing the tuning.
After 5 months and 7000 miles of torture, I couldn't be happier! Don't wait, go get whatever aftermarket exhaust you want..

If you just go with slipons you should not need to tune.

Can do....but, a stock bike benefits greatly (drive ability, power) with a great tune, nothing else  8)

I'm in New Mexico and the weather is super nice right now. I'm probably going to take a look at the Rineharts. I was apprehensive too about possibility voiding the warranty but the current sound of these pipes trumps that worry. 😝 I don't think slip ons would satisfy me either.

I am running Rinehart 4" mufflers they sound good not to loud but have some bark when you get on it. I am still waiting for the Slimline header to arrive anxious to get rid of the Cat.

I went with V&H Eliminator 400's and couldn't be happier!  It was a toss up between V&H and the Rinos but ended up picking the 400's b/c they were $125 cheaper on Fuel Moto.com.  Either pipe will sound much better but I wouldn't expect a huge difference as long as the Cadillac converter is still in there.  Good luck

You may want to give Frank a call. Looks like he has or will have what you need.

Just put a set of Rinehart 4" slipons on the Street Glide. Huge improvement. Nice low rumble.

You're in NM.  Fullsac is in Ariz.  Give Steve a call.

Get ahold of Steve at Fullsac, you won't be disappointed. He can even install it, tune it and with the different baffle configurations help you find that happy sound.
