Focal or Hertz speakers?
« on: March 30, 2017, 03:06:42 PM »

Kinda down to either focal or Hertz speakers with an arc amp.
Any comments or suggestions before laying out cash?

That's kind of like asking GM vs Ford. They both have different model speakers up and down the price points. Similar speakers in both brands need proper installation and tuning. Some come with cross overs, some don't. Focals are generally sharper at upper mid ranges and can sound bad without being tuned correctly. But similar when correctly installed, unless you are an audiophile. Then it depends on the type of music you listen to.

I wouldn't use Focals in saddlebag lids. Water flows straight through them. Hybrid Audio don't leak and sound great. No personal experience with Hertz. I love Focals except for lids.

Alpine Type R...I would put em up against any 6.5". To quote a professional installer (who shall remain nameless b/c he has a relationship with a high-end speaker co) "The Alpine Type R's are hard to beat". Most people won't use them b/c we have been foolishly trained to equate quality with price...Alpines run in the low $100s.

Pete at soundz customz just came out with his own line of speakers. . I upgraded all around from Focal and I'm really happy.  They are component speakers that really sound great and no distortion at any level. I like em better than the focals. . Stuart
