CFR Mufflers
« on: April 03, 2017, 04:36:54 PM »

Has anyone used CFR slip on mufflers? I looked at Utube videos online and they really sound Great! People online really like them.
They should sound good on TC motors I will bet they sound good with a S&S V124 EVO motor. TC motors idle too fast for my liking.
The Carburetor EVO motors to me have a much better lope to the idle. These are a megaphone and have straight through design.

They tune terribly and really hurt low end torque. But yes they sound good.

If you are wanting deep sound, they will deliver that, but I personally go for what works best as far as the torque curve, that is where the CFR mufflers fall way short.

Ok thanks guys. They are already in order. If I suffer a few ft/ lbs of torque,  I guess I can live with it ,the V124 should have enough I probably will not notice it too much. My FXR4 has a V111 going to a Road King with a V124 is a definite increase in torque. Both motors have a 4.125" bore,V111 has 4.125" stroke,  V124 has 4.625" stroke.

I have seen 25 ft/lbs loss in the low rpm range (2-3k) so its not just a few.....

Ok thanks,  my local shop hasn't placed the order yet. I told him to get me some Rinehart 4 " slip ons with 2.5" cores. That should give me some back pressure to work well. Too much back pressure on a S&S will make it run hot if it can't breathe. Thanks

My buddy put them on a non cvo road glide.  First thing he said was about the loss of low end torque.  He loves em. I hate em. . Way too loud for me. . I have to try and stay ahead of him when we ride.  Stuart.

I put them on and no doubt there is a flat spot from 2-3000 but with my riding style I don't spend much time under 3. Attached is the dyno where you can definitely see it. I run Boarzilla's on my other bike which performance wise is hard to beat and though I do like the sound of them, there is just something about the sound of the CFR's that just does it for me. Overall the bike with the CFR's still runs great and after getting it tuned by Gene Thomason with a TTS, it runs so much better than stock without the CFR's it isn't even close!

And having rode behind Alan quite a bit......I can tell you that they are obnoxious and offensive sounding.   He's a nice guy so he let's me ride in front most of the time.  :P
