Clutch spring identification
« on: April 03, 2017, 11:07:55 PM »

Can someone verify what this clutch spring is? I think it is a 360lb spring that came with the 110 10.5/260 cam kit but not sure.

Thank you
David

I used the screaming eagle spring and added a disc after I did my build on the 12 sg. . Made a huge improvement. . Stuart.

Thank you Stu. 65,000 on bike/clutch so thinking a complete rebuild is in order for the clutch area.

Yes, the pink square paint dot is the identifier and this seems to correlate to the "heavy" spring.

37807-03 CVO Clutch Spring 364lbs pressure rating

98A SE diaphragm is 380lbs pressure rating

So this is the stock 360 lbs spring?

Yes I believe so.
Heavier than most but not quite as heavy as the SE spring.

Yes, it is the Stock CVO Spring... Not the SE HD...

If the Clutch has been behaving well except for the "newfound slip" :huepfenjump3:, you could install (through the Derby Cover) an AIM VP-95 and eliminate the slip...

If you go deeper,,, take a good look at the Bearings, Hub (particularly the inner splines) and the Basket (particularly where the "tangs" on the Plates ride)  and replace with OE as necessary,, Flush the Hydraulics (if you haven't done it?)

You know I'm a big fan of the Alto Carbonite Kit p/n 095750NC and (recently) the Redline V-Twin Primary Case Oil...

If you go the Alto & AIM route, I recommend the OE CVO Spring,,, I have the Alto & Aim,,, the addition of the SE HD Spring is overkill for my set-up...

Thank you to everyone.

Ed clutch has worked well up intill this point. But what it has seen in the past was a very soft motor in the torque dept. With the 260 cam I think we were like 116Hp and like 106 tq and none of that happened till well over 3500. Very happy with the new found slip.

For now I will probably throw a 380 or 410 on it till I get all the parts and tools gathered up to build up a complete assy with the Alto plates and just replace the whole unit. I can't help but to believe that with 65,000 on the clock there has to be ridging on the splines in the internal and the basket.
